Raychelsb
Hi All I have not been able to find many recent posts on good landlord insurance companies, so asking here for anyone who has recently taken this out, or has had to make a claim? I have tried the usual, Direct Line for example, and gotten a ridiculous quote of over £400 for buildings, rent cover and accidental damage only! Not even contents covered. We had a claim last winter on our current home insurance so I think that is pushing it up. Quite a few companies have said no when I explain I will be living abroad, and some are supposed to be calling me back (AA and Natwest). I have got a quote from some I have read about on forums - CIA, Towergate and Simply but if I am honest, I am nervous about using these companies as I know nothing about them, for example, has anyone actually had to make a claim and deal with them from Oz? I would rather pay slightly more on the premium for guaranteed good service, that simply go for the cheapest quote. Thanks everyone
elfie
have both our properties with CIA/TOWERGATE are the same company - they contact via email and follow up with a letter - also this year rang me to say my landlords insurance was due - have to say well impressed with the phone call to ozland - recommend highly so far so good - not had to make any claim via them - the letting agent is named to negotiate any claims on our behalf as not in the UK - the choice is ultimately yours who you chose - good luck
Plimthing
I believe there is some legal nonesense stopping some compnies covering you as a landlord if you are living outside the uk. We had same thing, went with a company called 'click for quote', they have just changed name, forgotten to who, but was only around £150-200p.a. They were very quick taking money off me, as for giving some back, well i won't know until (hopefully never) i make a claim.
Laura_darlin
i used Simply Business, never had to claim yet so not sure how they'll be then and only needed contents insurance for £10,000 but costs me £100 per year. They were really helpful about me being overseas
