TIA LX
cutchibear
BUMP ** perhaps instead someone can advise whether you receive notification that your child visa application has been received? All sent special delivery but would be nice to know it had arrived safely
DyLeB
Not applied for ours yet - but you will know that it has been received once they take payment from your account. Like the partner visas co in London get in touch within a couple of wks to advise when to do medical and police checks.
cutchibear
cheers @DyLeB....my husband said exactly that re the payment....bet that won't take 10-12 months to process Will keep you posted on our progress so you know what to expect....go on, do it!! DyLeB
From what I have seen on PIO they are pretty fast at taking the payment. If they haven't taken it within 2-3 wks prob give them a phone.
elaineh33
Hi I put the application in on 11/12/13 ( thought it seemed a significant date) the payment was taken within 2 weeks. I received a letter end of January advising me it would take 7/8 months to be processed from the date the application was received which they noted as 13/12/13 and not to go for the medical before 13/03/14. Medical was done and signed off by the end of March and visa granted 12/07. So it did take right on the 7 months. Flights now booked for 28/08, move cube booked for 20/08 so it's all coming together. Good luck. The time will fly by honestly x
cutchibear
thanks @elaineh33 - so it seems the predications are pretty accurate. I presume you organised your movecube and flights on receiving the visa? Were they reasonable considering your quick turnaround? We may be in a similar position! Also, I've had a look at the movecube before - do you simply get a storage cube and fill as you please???
elaineh33
Yes I booked everything after the visa was granted. In fact I only booked everything last week. Move cube tomorrow amid flights next week. Can't wait to get there now
cutchibear
Great @elaineh33 - which size movecube did you go for and what sort of things are you taking/does it hold? Update on our child visa - we received an email yesterday stating that we'd sent an old version of the form that was missing a statement re credit card surcharges. We simply had to reply authorising we were okay for them to go ahead. At least it shows that it has been received and is being actioned! Hurry up now
elaineh33
That's good. All being well you ll have your visa within the 7/8 months i booked a large move cube and packed it full. I was really surprised by what we got in. Huge king size bed, bedside tables, coffee tables, about 20+ boxes, bike, scooter, airers, ironing board, toys, pictures and loads more. We packed really well n made the most of the space. Hoping now it all makes it ok to perth. it still feels surreal, I can't believe it's actually happening x
DyLeB
New processing times from London since end/start for July for child visas is now 8- 12 months. http://www.uk.embassy.gov.au/lhlh/immi_processing_times.html
cutchibear
update...money has been taken! fingers crossed will receive confirmation letter in next few weeks!
cutchibear
Another update...we've received our confirmation letter stating not to get our boy's medical done before February....seems so far off but seems accurate with the 8-12 month processing time. Here's hoping it's nearer to 8 months than 12!
EmsyEss
At least you have a little progress even if it seems as if it's months away it will come around so quickly and we'll be enjoying our first playdate in sunny Perth before you know it :-)
DangerousDave
Hi, I applied for my sons child visa in mid May 2014. Got a case officer at the end of June. He advised it would take 9 months ( as per embassy website at that time) and told us to complete medicals and police checks after 3 months which we did at the end of August. A waiting game now, should be granted in February hopefully. Thanks Dave
cutchibear
So @DangerousDave you'll be having a quick turnaround too then! Keep me posted on your developments as it will give us a good indication of time frames etc. Did you just receive a letter from your case officer? DangerousDave
We received an email from case officer at the end of June. I replied to the email about 3 weeks ago with police certificates for me and the Wife. The hospital automatically sent medical details to our case officer. I got an automated email from immigration saying processing times are 9 months from our date of lodgement. I then got an email from case officer simply saying 'Thanks'. That's it I think. I don't expect to hear anymore until the visa is granted. I'll keep you posted.
cutchibear
Cheers @DangerousDave sounds very similar to us then. Received email with letter attached with details re when should get medicals etc. So once Visa received you'll be booking flights etc....that will be exciting times!!! DangerousDave
Yes, very exciting. I've thought about taking a risk and booking them anyway but if I do that there will probably be some random delay to the visa. It's a tad frustrating when me, my wife and daughter have all got our visas but it will be worth the wait in the end.
cutchibear
Very frustrating! We feel the same though just the husband and I with ours. At least it gives us time to plan ahead and sell our house!

Also, I've had a look at the movecube before - do you simply get a storage cube and fill as you please??? hi cutchibear sorry for the delay in replying, the last month has been a whirlwind getting us moved from Scotland to perth. Everything was done very quickly in the end. I booked a move cube n it was delivered 3 days later. The cube is dropped off at your home for 4 hours approx n you have that time to fill in. I mapped out the area in the garage to get an idea of how much would fit in. I booked a large one and have managed to fit huge amounts in. I haven't brought any of the big furniture. Figure I ll get onto gumtree. My advice would be to start the de cluttering as soon as possible. I ll let you know how it goes at this end. cutchibear
thanks for the update @elaineh33 looking forward to hearing more about your progress! bet you can't believe that you are there now! I think we will go for the large one - just our bed and boy's furniture we want to take which I'm guessing it will manage. I've started ebaying all sorts of random stuff!!! DangerousDave
Hi @cutchibear, Very surprised to receive an email this afternoon with the little mans visa grant 3 months earlier than expected! I thought you might like to know. It's quite funny really as I took a risk and booked our flights last weekend for next May as Etihad had some specials out. Glad it paid off. Hope your visa comes soon. Cheers Dave Edited November 14, 2014 by DangerousDave
cutchibear
Hi @DangerousDave thanks for the update and what fabulous news for you and your family! Definitely makes us feel more positive. just shared with my husband and we are now wondering whether we should get our son's medical done slightly earlier than february which is what they suggested. Maybe just in the new year. Any thoughts? ideally my husband could do with handing his notice in in April if we are to go in the summer but don't want to do that before the visa is granted. When are your flights? Very exciting for you.

When are your flights? Very exciting for you. Hi @cutchibear, I'm still shocked how much earlier the visa has been granted. It's taken pretty much 3 months to the day from medicals to grant and 6 months since we lodged and were told it would take 9. I don't see any harm in doing the medicals slightly earlier if you definitely plan to be in Perth in a years time. I suppose it depends on how many applications they had around the same time as yours but using our case as a guide add at least 3 months on to whenever they ask you to go for medicals. But who knows?! We've booked flights for 5th May. We've not sold our house yet so it looks like we might be renting it out! Then there is the small issue of finding a job, house, life..... ha ha How's your planning going?
