Shirleyt
Hi there, It's my first post, but I've been along time stalker! We're Shirley and Steve and we have four children aged 6,8,11 & 22. The eldest is staying here initially to finish his work but will join us soon hopefully. Two weeks today and we leave Birmingham for our new life in Perth. Running around like a headless chicken with endless jobs and lists of things to sort. The whole house stinks because the shippers have told us to clean everything with Jayes Fluid and Zoflora. Feel like I want quarantine to open every box just to make all this time I've spent cleaning worthwhile. We are using Crown and our 40 ft containers is being packed next week and the clock seems to be moving a lot faster than it should. We have rented a short term rental in Mindarie but I'm still not sure exactly where we will end up long term. We have been working towards this for about five years but now it's all becoming real, it's a very strange mixture of excitement and stress! Shirleyt
Thank you everyone for your kind words, I've been a member on Poms in Oz for a few years now and both of these sites have been invaluable in my quest for emigration information. How anyone managed to emigrate before the internet is beyond me!

Akasully2
Good luck, just remember that it will be nuts here when first arrive so build that into your expectations. It will take a couple of months before things calm down. Difference is, that you'll have a beautiful beach to visit to help distress yourselves. mrogers
We fly out on the 17th from Bolton, same story as you, been planning it for 5 years and finally got visa through in march. container coming next week, everything has been cleaned with jeyes fluid and wrapped in cling film. Lol. Our container will stink. We booked our flights today, we can't wait, apprehensive, excited, nervous. ..Now 01:15 and still wide awake. Mind won't switch off. Think we will feel better when we are all on the plane as everything will be done... then our 'to do ' list will start again once we land

We've been banging on about going for so long now that no one really believed we were going. Now it's all booked everyone is in total disbelief! You must be the same after all this time!
