Anything you like to buy back home, or wish you had brought with you?

I know this is similar to a thread below, but as our house is about to be packed up I'm wondering if there's things I haven't thought about which would be good to buy here in the UK. I've already thought of toiletries and make up which is cheaper here (e.g. If that sounds crazy, I like blinc mascara and I'm sure it's pricey in Australia), Lego for kids birthday presents, clothes for kids bought in sales (I think quality here is better for same price).... Anyone have other things they bought in the UK or wish they could pop back and buy? I'm talking smaller items, not white goods. Ta!

Personally I would only bring things that I know I couldn't get in Australia ..

a biggie for me would be a decent quilt...no tog system here, impossible to get a decent winter one. I had to leave my duck one behind. I bought one from Myers here, cost me an arm n a leg, it was rubbish, so I returned it and made do with two cheapest from Kmart.

toiletries...?? Unless its a brand again that you can't get here, I'm not sure if its worth bringing.

i was back in the UK in April, thought I had died and gone to heaven in Boots, spent hundreds.

Then when I got back, and actually looked at what I had bought, I could have bought it here for the same or cheaper. Except for face masks and say if you want No.7 stuff.

good quality dressing up stuff for kids would be good to buy....or even the Asda type stuff. Little harder to find here and probably cost more?

as for kids clothes in general, seems to be and such the same, once your earning and not converting. Doesn't really matter, kids grow so fast, stuff only lasts so long anyway.

I may be missing something , but clothes in general don't last that long here anyway, no matter what you pay for them.

being out in the sun, fades them, washing and hanging them on the line fades them.

basically summing up...I would just bring what you can..vacuum pack everything, get as much in as you can, might not save you any money, but will save you having to shop here for a while.

just thought of something....when I was back in the UK because I am a half size foot size here, ie 41/2, 51/2 .whatever. Can't get them in your normal joe shops. I brought as many pairs of shoes back with me as I could.

Great...i been thinking about a new duvet and I'll probably chuck in some new pillows too. I understand re the clothes but I'm trying to save from having to spend in Perth as we won't have an income for awhile.

We've been advised to replace white goods if possible in the UK and ship new ones out, as they cost a lot more in Australia...we are paying for a container so might as well maximise the use of space. We thought that we'd replace the fridge freezer and washing machine. Good luck with the move! We have two months to go...can't wait!

ive kind of done that as I thought ahead when replacing the washer and fridge and bought Miele! (Supposedly they last 20+ years!). Good luck to you too! Exciting times but stressful packing up the house...
