Ozzy84
Hey guys. My wife's company have decided to sponsor her through the 457 visa. They seem reluctant to put me on this visa as her defacto. They have concerns that if I step out of line during this time and am removed from the country they will be responsible for paying all fees in the process. I have never heard of this. I have many friends on 457 with their partners and it was basically straight forward for them. Can anyone shed light on this please.
bottlesofbecks
Surely as a wife you are not de facto?. standing by to be corrected though.
Plimthing
Sounds like the company are just trying to save cash. I am here on a 457 and wife and 2 kids were added no problems. If you are going to be deported for being a naughty boy, i think you will find you will be paying for the flight home and probably met at heathrow with some steel bracelets and the boys in blue. DyLeB
The company are correct they are responsible for paying for your removal if you breached you visa conditions etc. They are also responsible for paying for your flight when you leave Australia regardless of circumstance, even if you cancel the visa. Plimthing
Are you sure thats correct DyLeb? Do you have a link to any immi document that states that? If so i'm taking it to work tomorrow!

Plimthing
It doesnt state on what circumstances! So i'm guessing 'losing the will to live' is reasonable grounds to go home?? Either way if we somehow stay four years, thats my flights sorted, 4 years worth of super and 4 years of savings, result! If i stay long enough for the kids to get PR then thats mission accomplished for this bloke, Hopefully give kids an option in later life, so back to Blighty for tea and medals then back to realityof warm beer and rain. Which ironically will be what all the newcomers will be craving for in 3 months time.

Plimthing
so i have one more year with NOTWORK and they will sponsor me for PR then 1 more year for Citizenship. So that will be 3 years of the original 4 year 457. Think i may be bonded for 1 year for PR sponsorship so that will run concurrently with the 1 yr to citizenship thing. So, all within the original 4 year plan. So all being well, only 1 year of school fees to pay, then PR fees. I love it when a plan comes together. Not quite, depending on your circumstances, the only visa you might be eligible for is either ENS or RSMS both these visas have an 'obligation' to work for your current employer for a further two years, but it is only an 'obligation' and once you get citizenship and an Aussie passport who gives a stuff
Plimthing
As it goes the only one i'm legible for is ENS as state sponsorship and independant is out of the window, due to aircraft trades coming off the SOL list. Probably cause of all the Qantas redundancies. Its only the kids that will be applying for aussie passports, not me! tourist visa should do me once i leave on the big metal bird. Never say never, you've don't the hard yards so you may as well get the passport, once your visa expires if you hadn't done 2 out of the 5 years it's all over, you might want to retire in the caravan park in Broome with the rest of the grey nomads
Plimthing
i will not be retiring in Australia. You have my word on that. Should i die tonight my body will be sliced and sent home in a jiffy bag, rather than stay here and rot.
DyLeB
Once you gain PR the sponsors 457 obligations no longer exist.
Druid
Once you gain PR the sponsors 457 obligations no longer exist. Yes but under the ENS Visa, you are obliged to work for your sponsor for 2 years, it's a ENS visa condition
Plimthing
yes thats the downside of getting PR, i would have to pay for it and lose my free ticket home! Edited September 6, 2014 by Plimthing i can't spell

There is no condition on 186 to work for sponsor for 2 years.
