Scotty
I have a couple of questions about the visa I am looking at. I have booked my ILETS which I expect to get 10 points from and preparing to have my qaulifications assessed. I intend on applying for visa before my birthday next year so I will still get 30 points. Although I have been working in the engineering industry for a few years now I only recently (June 2014) completed my degree and therefore I will not be claiming points for work experience due to it being pre-degree. My points details are at the bottom. My big concern is something I cam across today which says that applicants must have 3 years work experience. My work epxerience is pre-degree so I will not be claiming points for it but do I still need 3 years work expewrience post degree even if I am not claiming points. I am confused and hope you can help. Work Experience Requirements: All applicants must meet the minimum work experience requirement of: ◦ at least one year of Australian work experience in the nominated (or closely related) occupation over the last ten years; or ◦ at least three years of overseas work experience in the nominated (or closely related) occupation over the last ten years; and Thanks Scott

 Points

Age 32 30

IELTS 20

degree 15

190 Visa 5

DyLeB
Can you post a link to where you found that. There s no requirement for you to have any post qualification work experience for skilled migration unless it was required to gain a positive skills assessment. Before skillselect you were required to have 12 months out of previous 24 months, but this requirement no longer exists after July 2012. if you are able to gain the 20 points from IELTS I would also consider the 189 visa. You may need to check what the requirements of WA nomination are if they require recent work experience to get state sponsorship. It was the case that they needed 2 years but not sure if that is still the case we got our visas a few years ago now.

Not sure if I am reading it wrong. Oh yeah and I do hope to get 8.0 for ILETS. I have it middle of October so going to get stuck into the study now. Fingers crossed
DyLeB
Yes so it's One of the minimum requirements for WA to have 1 or 3 years work experience for your EOI to be picked up by them before they being offered state nomination. My suggestion would be to chose both 189 and 190 only ticking WA. They might pick up your EOI and still offer sponsorship. But the 189 with 65 points should shill receive invitation by one or 2 rounds. My oh used the IELTS book and got overall 8.5, but there are loads online help and heard YouTube tutorials called IELTS Ryan are suppose to be helpful. Are you sitting the test in Aberdeen or Edinburgh?

Are you sitting the test in Aberdeen or Edinburgh? My problem is, if I do not get 20 points for ILETS then I will not be able to apply for the 190 AGE 31 = 30 points Degree = 15 points Work = 0 points since I have been working whilst studying at night school. ILETS = 10 or 20 points (i suspect 10) So if I need 3 years work experience post degree for the 190 WA state then that is a no go and so is the 189 unless I get 20 for ILETS. Do you agree? If I only get 10 for ILETS then I would have to try my luck for the 189. SO STRESSFUL. My uncle gained full Austrlian citizenship and lived their for 25 years but sadly passed away last year. My mothers side of the familer were also '£10 poms' but returned to the UK after 4 years. My test is going to be in Aberdeen in October. Do not know where the actual test centre is though. DyLeB
I think the are held at Aberdeen Uni? Not sure but sure that's where they were before. my oH had to go to Edinburgh as we kept missing the Aberdeen date as he was offshore. family sponsorship would have only gotten a provisional visa and you have enough points to go straight for PR. just do plenty of practice for the IELTS, my OH got overall 8.5, He only practiced with the book and his first language not English. WA might pick up your EOI and offer sponsorship? But it is not worth the risk to use pre-qualification work experience as I have seen people lose their whole application fee if rejected by DIBP. Scotty
Well I jave given up on the thought of the 190. Ia am going for 20 points on the IELTS so I can get the 189. If I don't get 20 points tye first time I will just do it again and again and again!
