mwjw
Hey, We are looking at having about £10,000 when we arrive. This will have to last till we find jobs, pay rent etx. Does this seem too low? Think if we live carefully we should be ok for a few months? Will have to stop eating!! Mike
wild rose
I suppose the reason why it's so difficult to say is because everyone spends very differently. Do you have a large family to support? Do you have an idea of the area you want to settle in? The biggest expense by far will be a rental and the upfront bond so a look on realestate.co.au may be a good idea. Are you bringing a container full of house stuff or will you need to furnish your home out of that money? Will you have initial furnished accommodation paid for before you come? Will you need to buy a car out of it? What professions are you in and how likely is it you'll be able to secure a position quickly? Have you done a budget to see how long the money would last? Sorry I'm not much help but these are the questions that sprung to mind x
verystormy
It is on the low side. To give you an example, we are a family of two - no children. Our annual life costs - just bills and things work out that we need a salary of $75k a year. The first months of the move are expensive as you leach cash. mwjw
Hiya, No you are very helpful thank you!! We are bringing our furniture, the wife is a butcher and there seems to be good opportunities for her in Mandurah/Bunbury. I work in finance, so will struggle as i cant work in Perth for the first two years as on a 489, im prepared to do anything though. Its hard as my wife wants to make the move, but us worried we wont have enough money, which i understand. If we are lucky we could find jobs straight away, but nothing is ever that simple!!
