paulflynn65
[h=2]Wondering if anyone can help with this, I qualified in 2004 with BSc (Adult Nursing) to the best of my recollection I don't recall anything as in depth as required in Criterion 8 below: What you need to know about Criterion 8[/h]The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia requires documentary evidence of substantial study and assessment in pharmacology, including the following: pharmacokinetics pharmacodynamics medication administration (including calculations), and quality use of medicines. If, as I suspect, that any transcript from my Alma mater is not going to provide satisfactory supporting evidence. Is there any kind of Uni course or training that can be undertaken, and where. NMBA don't seem very forth coming with how to meet Criterion 8. Many thanks, Paul

However when I contacted the university through the student services department they were not concerned stating that they get so many requests they just cut and paste the criteria and the head of deanery or such like signs them off in batches! its a bit of a mockery... prior to contacting the university I did phone AHPRA, they said if I couldn't get a statement then I should submit mitigating evidence or try and demonstrate knowledge around these subjects...thank god the university came up trumps! do try your student services department first...you never know the very best of luck! SteveB
Hang on in there, it'll happen. Took me years to get the work experience right, the qualifications right and then the family circumstances. The visa (189)was slow but straight forward, AHPRA was the most painful part by far...but it did all come together, job offer, AHPRA, and family ready all in the same few weeks! Stay focused but don't beat yourself up whilst waiting. All the best.

HI Steve, Out if interest, what uni were you at?? Hoping to god by fluck it's mine! So are you saying that they basically said that you covered that in some way or form??? I am in the same boat here, I qualified sept 1997. I have contacted my uni a few days ago and asked them if they can help. I did wonder if the individual books we had on each placement, that the mentors had to sign would be beneficial, as they would have had stuff about drug rounds and administering drugs in the various routes etc???? Anyone thought of this??? I have wondered about uni courses and when i inquired, no one seemed to have a clue, there is also a drug calculations/pharmacy type booklet for newly qualified nurses apparently in my trust. I was wondering whether to start making my way through it also?? Any thoughts anyone??? My one saving grace, is that as I have been registered in OZ before, and I think they have to make some exceptions or something because of that..... I bloody hope so. If not I will be going without aphra and the ability to work and i will have to study for the remainder of my cat points in OZ, as our visa is due any day and we will have to enter oz in December this year. Lets hope the hubby can get a job!!!
