Ellen Hughes
Quick question on behalf of my OH. When you go for your medical, do they contact your GP for your medical records or do they just do their examination and take a medical history? Any information would be appreciated. We will probably be going for our medicals next month and just wondered what the situation was. Thanks
Guest Guest6235
They just did their examination on us and asked a little of our medical history, they also asked if we were under the care of a consultant. No sending for info from your GP.......get ready to touch your toes during the examination!!
<Dan>
I remember having to pee in a pot and hand it to a woman through a hatch
Guest Guest6235
Oh yeah forgot about the pee in a pot....but it wasn't handed in through a hatch, sounds dodgy that, must be trying to clone you. Are you sure it wasn't doctor Nick from the Simpsons. Edited September 23, 2014 by Guest6235
gar374
thanks guys, what are they checking for with peeing in a pot? I hope I'm not pregnant!
<Dan>
They did check other things too... I can't remember what though lol.
wild rose
They check for blood and protein in your urine sample (they let me have 3 goes until, 10 gallons of water later, it was clear lol) They also do a blood test, a basic eye test, height/weight etc.

Keith
We are also having our medicals on Saturday and was wondering what they asked of you, so thank you. Do you know what they will have to do to my 4 yr old? I know they don't ask for blood test or anything for children but did wonder what they will do. Thanks Michelle x

Thanks Michelle x Hi when we went for ours my son was 6 and they took his weight and height, asked him to pee in a cup to check for stuff then doctor asked him to take his clothes off but to leave his pants on then checked his reflexes and asked him to touch his toes, basically the same as adults but they don't take any blood from the kids or any chest x-ray either

Thanks Michelle x Hi Michelle, Our daughter was 8 months old when we went and all that he did was weight, height, felt her tummy, listened to her chest, looked in eyes, ears mouth. Doc was really good with her. Are you going to Bridgewater? Nicola x
Keith
Hi Nicola, we are going to Stafford, quite a way for us as we are in Wirral but as we needed a place on a Saturday that's where we have to go. That seems ok what they do, they said she can come in with me just didn't want her to be frightened but if they literally just checking her over then I'm sure she'll be fine, I just wanted to make sure there was no needles or anything ha I think I'll be worse than her I hate needles. Thanks so much for your reply. Michelle x

wild rose
My daughter was 3, son was 6. They did photos, height and weight, basic eye sight test. Harry at 6 had to do a wee sample but Ella at 3 didn't. They listened to their chest, felt their tummy, looked at their hands (??), looked in their eyes and ears, felt their throat. They didn't have to go anywhere on their own and it wasn't anything that worried them. Ella was really interested in my blood test so I let her stay with me and she watched close up asking loads of questions (whilst I looked the other way lol). Definitely no needles for the kids though. Hope it all goes ok x
Keith
Well all medicals done and dusted today, was absolutely fine I was worrying for nothing the doctor and nurse were both really great with our daughter and she actually enjoyed it and got a big fuss made of her. It was exactly like everyone had said so really pleased that that's it now, waiting game again!! X
