Lola4
Hi everyone, just after some in put. I'm a ping pong pom currently living in Canberra with my husband and our two teenage daughters. We have lived in Sydney and Perth as well as many places in UK (hubby's job) My husband has never liked living in Canberra (been here 3yrs, and previously for 2yrs and I also grew up here from 2 until I was 12. Then when I was 14 for a year!! Hope that makes sense! Anyway we are seriously thinking of moving back to Perth, we have a house there, which is on the market as we had been planning to move back to the UK at the end of next year. At the weekend my husband said he thought it would be better to go to Perth instead. Our eldest daughter finishes yr 12 next year and wants to go to Uni, which would be easier if we stayed in Australia. Both the girls want to go to the UK, but we haven't told them yet that we've changed our minds! Anyone know much about Perth Uni's or has similar dilemmas with constant moving!? ali
We have 5 universities - UWA, Curtin, Edith Cowen, Murdoch and Notre Dame - the first 4 have ATAR requirements for entry but Notre Dame you can be accepted on interview. It would be worth look to see which offers which courses - Murdoch has the Vet school for example, and I know UWA is the only one to offer European language
Happy little Vegemite
Sorry, I can't help out with any advice on universities in WA, or moving around so much, especially with teenage kids, but I wanted to say "hi and welcome to Perth Poms" from a fellow Canberran. I was born and bred there until moving away for Uni, then spent the last 13 years in England before moving back to Oz five months ago
Lola4
Thanks, we spoke to the girls tonight, not an easy one but it didn't go too badly. Our eldest 16, was upset as she was looking forward to going to England, especially as she has good friends there. Feel so sad to have upset her, I know she'll be ok in a while. Thanks for saying hi
