dan
Hi My agents have submitted the paper part of my skills recognition to Vetasses. Does anyone know roughly how long it will take to get a result? It is for bricklayer if it helps. Thanks Dan
aaronspark
Mine came back successful after just over a week once Vetassess have received it. You should get confirmation once they do. Was told between 2-6 weeks before I submitted it so was surprised when it came back so early. I'm an Electrician, so onto the practical next which is provisionally booked in for 3 weeks after I received confirmation of the paper docs. dan
Hopefully mine doesn't take to long to come back too. I see on another thread you are trying to get your visa sorted before February. My 33st is also in February so trying to get the invite to apply before then. I have already done my IELTS so all going well with the paper part for VETASSESS it wil be on to the technical interview, get the pass then submit EOI. Sounds so easy. That's what my agent has told me anyway.
aaronspark
Longest part for me so far was gathering all the evidence for skills assessment....been self employed for the best part. Yeah hopefully get EOI submitted with plenty of time before my Bday. Need a higher score in my IELTS if it goes past. Always something to stress about with this visa eh! How did you do in your IELTS? dan
Yeah, same for me with gathering evidence. I have always been self-employed but most of my work since 2001 has been with the same company, which made it easier for my references. Unfortunately I only got 10 points for my IELTS, speaking, listening and writing were all above 8 but I only got 7 for reading. Really annoyed with myself as I found this the easiest when practicing. If I don't get an invite to apply before my birthday I think I will apply for state sponsorship so I don't have to do the IELTS again. Do you have and friends/family already in Perth? aaronspark
I've got a couple of friends in Perth, not many thou. I'm still torn between Perth and Gold Coast to be honest. Got some Family on the Gold Coast. I've never been to Perth so it's hard to have a feel for it without ever visiting. What about yourself? Not looking forward to the IELTS test. Booking it for 1st Nov. Got my Vetassess practical on 6th Nov too so a lot on. Didn't realise the paper assessment would come back so soon so had to book IELTS sooner than I planned. Don't want to hold up the application, as like yourself need to get it in before Feb!
JenPen
We are soon to book MrJP's technical interview to complete the vetassess process - he didn't do as well as we needed in the ielts but will likely have to retake it so we can get out when we want to and need to! Before more changes to occupation ceilings SOL and visa prices get hiked up!! FX we all get it done by feb!
dan
I was really dreading the IELTS, but as long as you get plenty of practice in I'm sure you'll be fine. My wife has a cousin in Perth, which is probably the main reason we will be heading there, along with the fact bricklayers really seem to be in demand. My only worry with living in Perth though would be the heat, especially having to work in it all day. We did consider Adelaide as the climate would be more bearable. But I'm sure after being there a while we will get used to it JenPen... What is your husbands trade? Has he passed the 1st stage of VETASSESS? JenPen
Hi Dan - he is a Carpenter by trade and has completed the first stage successfully a few months ago but then we moved and I am not earning atm (start beginning of Nov) so we have held of paying anything else out until we know the 2nd wage is back! Do they tell you the numbers of years when you have completed the 2nd stage so once the whole thing has been done?
dan
I'm not sure really. I have not spoke to my agent too much about it. I completed my NVQ L3 in 2012 so this cannot be used as I do not have enough experience post qualification. With the 13 years I have been bricklaying, 5 years will be classed as training, then 8 years as a bricklayer. This is how I get my work experience points. Hope it makes sense. JenPen
Aaah I see - yes it makes sense….hmmm we will see then for MrJP it might be that he doesn't have enough yrs ex
dan
I'm sure it will work out ok. The visa agents know what they are doing.
