If it's just spooning around the streets then as VS says but there are lots of independents that offer great service and you'll probably get a better bike for not much more cash. I can only advise on SOR but my top picks would be Mercer Cycles on South Terrace in Freo, excellent service, great staff and really helpful, I go there all the time. Dismantle do some great s/h bikes that they restore as part of their community project; http://dismantle.org.au George's in Willetton are great too, a really good range of BMX's and street bikes and lots of kids bikes. The 9 year old and 3 year old need new bikes anyway and the 7 year old has someone interested in buying her one. Seems like a good option for Father Christmas too!
