Hi

i have a background in office/customer service kind of positions so not something on the occupations list which would get me in.

I am 32 years old and currently studying a sports and exercise science degree.

My brother has permanent residency/citizenship.

Is there any way to secure a visa to allow me to move over?

I understand its unlikely but can't hurt to look into it.

thanks in advance.

Not with a sports science degree having family in Australia are little use now.

Really depends what you are going to do with your degree when you are finished. I also have a sports science degree so know there is not a direct career path from some courses, my course was more biomedical science research based. exercise physiologist is on csol but your would need state nomination or employer sponsorship.

If she was eligible for a visa, then you could be included on the application as her defacto partner, if you meet the 12 months relationship requirement, ie living together, joint accounts etc.

If granted PR you would have pR in your own right and if split up down the line you can remain in Australia with out any issues.

What is her occupation?

Each occupation is different on years of experience required to get a positive skills assessment, I don't think that teachers need a set amount of teaching experience, but require 4 years uni education to get a positive skills assessment.

if your g/f is a degree qualified nurse she should have no prob qualifying for skills independent visa, and yourself as secondary applicant. She will need to sit the academic IETLS, and get skills assessment from ANMC.

Prob look in to this soon if you are planning in going, rather than waiting until you finish your course, the visa process can take up to a year, but once granted the visa will give you 5 years to make the move (visa needs to be validated in the first year which can be done with short holiday). Least once you are finished your course you will be ready to go.
