Tapping good or bad?

Recommended Posts

Poor value and out of the way imo. More expensive than nearby Wanneroo. More amenities in Wanneroo. Just another legoland estate but great if modern homes are what you want.

But with tapping you're onto the freeway in a few minutes. How about Wanneroo? If you go south, and use ocean reef (?) to get onto the Mitchell you'are hopelessly stuck there as everyone east of joondalup lake uses that road to get onto the freeway? (Someone told me that and I am just wondering :))

Really?? It's a few minutes of the freeway?

At rush hour it's more than a few minutes to the freeway IMO.

To the OP. It's not a bad area at all but keep in mind it is a drive to transport and the freeway and the shopping centre. Plus if you have older kids the public transport isn't great and you will spend a lot of time ferrying kids around. Just my opinion of course.

I have relations living in Tapping , they have even moved house within the estate, other relations love it.The drive is not as bad as you may think, 1 works just by Kings Park, 1 works off Wannero Rd. neither have ever complained about the drive. The only time the mum complained as the children started school in Ocean Reef and the travel at 8.30 to get there was a pain, so moved to the closer school. No issues. There is shops,a kiddie centre, fab Leap Frogs, all near. Plus since butler train station opened they are all saying the train station car parks are better. It is a nice family estate IMO.

Hi Lee

We've just moved to Melbourne from Perth and have a house in Tapping. It's a lovely area and even though it's a bit far from the CBD if you need to work there, Joondalup (which it is super close to) is self-contained so you don’t have any real need to go to the city for anything! There are lots of great schools, and it’s the only place (except Armadale, which isn’t that great apparently) to get a good range of proper English food for a reasonable price! If you’re looking for a place to rent, ours is available at the moment.

That’s actually what brought me to this forum, because I know mum has loads of English friends up that way and one mentioned this was where they got info when they decided to move to sunny old Perth. Unfortunately, we got duped into spending way more than we could afford on the place by a very persuasive salesman. We were only 21 and had stayed living with our folks to be able to buy it so we jumped at it, and then moved over to Melbourne for work and rented it out (stupidly thinking it would all be good). Prices are kinda flat at the moment (renting and selling) and we are getting really worried about it all. So I don’t know if I’m allowed to post about it here, but if anyone is looking I will happily give you more details :) it’s a 3x2.5 opposite a park and close to all the right stuff, and we are happy to allow pets (and kids ;) ).

Anyway, good luck with your house hunting and have a lovely time in Perth!

Best wishes

Sally
