Importing a car

Iron Chef don't usually advise on the viability of bringing vehicles across, just the process of doing so. Given that the Honda is very common here, may have some Euro specs that make it different to AU cars and will always be an import you might find you have to pay for changes prior to registration and then it's going to be harder to sell and worth a lot less than an AU car. I may be wrong, please do look further into it, I just want to make you aware of the potential issues.

Also, don't be fooled by the 'they're twice the price in WA' claim, once you're here you'll hopefully be earning $AU and that makes a huge difference. If you work in the public sector you can also take advantage of things like Novated leasing.

The RS on the other hand... well, what is it? How classic? There are lots of classic car clubs, many specialists and there are certain benefits that can be had by being a member. I'd get in touch with some local clubs and see what they think about bringing it across. You may find that some models didn't even come out here so they won't be appreciated.

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help. We are looking to import our car over from the UK. Has anyone on here done this?? And what kind of costs would we incur??

Many Thanks

Vicky

we are doing this at moment. The car is going with the shipment - about £6k for 40 ft high container. Then I think I'm expecting around $5k at the other end with inspection, registration etc. It looks worth it for a decent car.....plus less to fork out for when you arrive. Our car is only two years old so made sense to take it when I looked at prices of second hand cars in Australia.
