What's first???????

Hi

As a family we have considered Perth for quite sometime but have now made the decision to make the move to Perth a reality. We are aiming to be there and settled Summer 2016.

I've looked at the information out there and feel a bit overwhelmed at present.

I'm a senior social worker so would be looking at skilled migration and would consider state nomination. But other than that I am completely lost. I have no idea what I should be doing first and the kind of timescales we would be looking at.

Any help that I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this information is on a thread somewhere already.

Thanks

Have a read of the booklets on Immi website. The skills list also tells you who assesses your skill and whether you need to sit an English test in order to have your skills assessed. If the English test isn't required for your skills assessment but is required for points it can be done any time prior to submitting your EOI. The main thing is to ensure you read through everything, work out your critical path (what needs to be done first) and that you have evidence of every point you'll be claiming before submitting your EOI. There may be some fellow social workers on here who can give you an insight of what you might need to do for your specific occupation, or alternatively speak to a registered migration agent.

Te first step is to identify which list your occupation is on. There are two called SOL and CSOL. If it is only on the CSOL then you need some form of sponsorship and the first thing to do is see if WA are sponsoring. It is important at this point to look and see if there are any special conditions applied such as it is listed as schedule 2.

Next, spend time looking at immi.gov.au and work out your points - you need 60 - and it VERY important you don't over claim points.

From this, most people find they are short of points and that is where ILETS can be used to top up points.

Next is is the skills assessment and you need to research to ensure you are happy you can pass the assessment.

It it may be worth giving a good agent a call and they will do a free initial assessment. Try Go Matilda.
