JaseandAnne
Hi everyone just want to have a rant!!! Got our visa 2011 and activated 2012 so got PR. Spent last two years doing house up and paying off debt. In that 2 years we had another baby, well actually 6 months ago, so I have just completed the forms to add Bobby to our visa. Well as you can imagine its not as easy as that, oh no, I have to sponsor 6 month old Bobster with his own visa (subclass 101) this visa is £1400!!! I'm not being funny but im sure my visas for Me the Mrs and 3 other kids, including medicals not to mention the money I had to pay for SS is got to be £6K. I know that checking all the stuff for us adults takes time, but for a 6 month old baby migrating with both natural parents the checks etc cant be particularly taxing. I don't think Bob has eaten £1400 worth of food in his little life!!!! They got you by the short and curlies because they know we not going without him:mad: The other thing is it takes 8-12 months, what???!!! I know I'm not the only one applying but 8-12 months to add a child, ridiculous!! Jase

LoopyLauren
How **** for you. I would be frustrated by that too! Our costs have gotten somewhere between £8000-10000 now i reckon for 2 adults and 2 kids! I agree, nightmare.
cutchibear
Hi @JaseandAnne Unfortunately it is just what it is. We've had to do it for our little man and always knew that would be the case. However, some more positive news for you - we applied last August for our son's visa and were also told 8-12 months. It was granted started of this month... 5 and a half months later I think because the rest of your family are all sorted you may have a similar result....fingers crossed for you! DyLeB
It's expensive, but it is now $880 for a child to be included in a PR application.
JenPen
Gosh that is annoying I would rant too - release the tension.....ranting is good!! Congrats on little Bobster too!
Derbygirl42
Wrong! Outrageous they can charge that ! It's Scart how much it all costs I think we must be at over 10k with the skills assessment and everything else. I stopped counting every penny when we went past 8k! Just the flights and shipment to get out the way now and then the 20ishk (prob end up 30k) we going to spend on cars setting up etc! it will all be worth it though im sure!! FOL
Holy crap...that's an unwelcome surprise (to say the least)... I assume it's only if your child is born offshore? (just wondering - it doesn't make your pain go away)

JasminInYarpshire
All the visa charges are extortionate Also some just went up this yr by 50% in one go! A lovely way to make us feel welcomed and integrated!

They probably don't need migrants as much as they used to.
JaseandAnne
Thought I would update you guys, the week after I posted they took £1260 so the exchange rate was on my side that day!! Yesterday we got a case worker and she has requested the following: 1) Form 1229 to evidence any person that can lawfully decide where the child can live. (Surely the birth certificate can do this, and if Bobby was subject of any court order and we wanted to run away would we put it down) 2) Biodata pages of both parents passports. (They've already got all this with Main visa, very recently updated as we had to renew our passports in January???) 3) Where both parents have lived in the passed 10 years. (again this is all in the main visa, and what difference does this make to taking a child??) 4) Medical for Bobby ( yep expect this, part of criteria) 5) Police checks for both parents ( I know these only last 12 months, so I expect this, however if Bobby hadn't been born we could of emigrated, say in six months and our original ones will be 2 years out of date). I'm tempted to reply with "You've got most of this im not doing it again" but I don't want to upset the case worker and risk them not processing the application. They've got you by the danglies, you have to jump through these hoops even though they cost more money.:censored:
ali
Are you married? Just wonder if the request for number 1 is due to marital status? (only guessing by the way), the request for more information will probably be about updating records - you may have lived elsewhere since getting your visa and require police checks to ensure you're still upstanding citizens. Perhaps not unreasonable to ask the CO why the information needs resubmitting - they're going to be in the best position to answer your questions

We also had to fill out an application form for his visa and a quick cross reference would see that nothing has changed. To be honest, I will probably just do whats been asked and not make a fuss. just being a whinging pom!!
