goncalo
Hi, I just receive the new that I was awarded with a PhD scholarship to study in Perth. Before making my decisions I would like to have your opinion about somethings. By reading other posts, I am afraid that the annual income that I will receive will not let me to live there (29.0000 AUD), is that right? Other thing that I read about is that Perth don't have a good cultural and night life, that most of the activities end really early, is that true? How is the lifestyle there, are people nice? Is it easy to meet new people around my age (24) ? Is it easy to find a affordable house to stay in? I would like to hear your opinion. Best, Goncalo
ali
Perhaps a house share will be the way to go and more affordable. There is an active night life in the city
verystormy
Perth has a city nightlife the same as any city. I would recomend you google "what's on in perth". We are a smaller city than some on the east coast, but still plenty of bars and restaurants. The he bursary would be a low income, however, many phd students are able to do demonstrating as part of their course which tops up their income and I would speak to the university to find out if this is available. It is basically assisting with the teaching of undergraduates.
benj1980
Surely you won't be worrying about the nightlife, you'll be studying!
