chandi
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help with how the resident return visa works. My wife and I moved out to Australia in Sept 2012 on a State sponsored 176 visa but returned to the UK in November 2013. When we came back we have had a family bereavement and my wife is now expecting our fourth which means that we haven't been able to return and the earliest would be May 2016. Does anyone know what the rules are around being granted this visa and if i should be doing anything else? I would appreciate any help. verystormy
If your visa was granted in March 2012, it is valid for travel in and out of australia until March 2017. So, if you are planning to move back next year, you do not need an RRV.
benj1980
I am presuming you will be required to get some sort of dependent child visa for baby number 4?
chandi
We have been discussing the option me returning before the visa expires and my family coming out in the summer once the school year has finished. What are the rules around this because i'm the main holder of the visa?
ali
You are all now independent visa holders, you will need to get a visa for the new baby when it arrives.
verystormy
Though if you were able to make the move before the baby arrives and it is born in Australia, it would automatically by an Australian citizen and entitled to an Australian passport
chandi
As we have a PR Visa for which i am the holder, could i be in oz prior to the visa ending and whilst i'm there apply for the extension without my family being there? Ideally we want the kids to finish a school year that year before coming out. I'm just a bit confused around options or do we all need to make sure we are there before the visa expires. Thanks for any advice
verystormy
Everyone has their own visas - you been in Australia will not prevent their visas expiring.
