**Kindy/Primary and High Schools NOR Advice please**

Hey PIPs,

 

We are currently waiting for our 189 Visa to be granted. We are looking to move over to Tapping in January (all being well) to initially stay with my parents before we find a rental etc.

 

We have 2 little lads, Marley who is 9 and Nate who is 3 (both will be 10 and 4 when we move). I'd really appreciate some input about which primary's and high schools are good NOR in this area (we are flexible-isn) with it, but would prefer to be close to Tapping. We will be in the catchment for Spring Hill Primary, and Tapping PS accept pupils out of catchment, but are there any others we should think about? I've read some where on here that Wanneroo isn't the best high school and these 2 primary's feed into it......any other recommendations please?

 

Also for the little one, any recommendations for a good Kindy please, I've seen on here that Hillarys Community kindy is a good one and doesn't have a specific catchment area that you have to be in.

My wife and I live in tapping and it seems a nice area we have just moved up from Australind (down south). As for high schools Wanneroo does have tough side most schools do but it has won awards for the amount of children that leave with qualifications so they have some special teachers to achieve that and it means they don't give up on the kids an important point I believe. Tapping is also in the catchment area for a brand new school in Banksia Grove called Joseph Banks Secondary College which has just opened January this year http://www.jbsc.wa.edu.au/ is the school site. This school has some fantastic facilities and will be worth a look.

 

Spring hill and Tapping primary appear to have pretty good reputations but those are only my opinions you might get a better idea by checking out the schools social media profile. Most schools have a Facebook page Twitter account or an app to download for your phone. Take a look at these as they will give you an indication as to how the school communicates with the local community the more transparent the better. Keep tabs on how the parents discuss the school, do they use positive or negative tones? How does the school communicate back to the parents do they answer all the questions politely and positively. Its only a guide but it does help build a picture.

 

Most schools have their own website as well which often contain details of the curriculum they offer to students including a plan of the year. Schools that have this facility are, in my opinion, often very organised and efficient which is good sign. Have a look and see what extracurricular activities they offer outside of school hours. Do they cater for disabilities or gifted and talented students? Look for activities that add value to a child's education. If they have a newsletter sign up for it and get regular updates on what's happening at the school.

Hello. We are also looking around that area. I'm considering st stephens school in tapping. Also looking at currambine, with currambine primary being a feeder school to ocean reef high school I think. I think tapping primary has a kindi too.

I would highly recommend Hillarys Community kindy for kindy in Perth. It is a fantastic school and the teachers are amazing! If you want to know anything about them just let me know and check out their facebook page.
