goncalo
Hi Recently I received a IPRS to do may PhD in UWA. I would like to know if someone could give some tips and insight how it is doing a PhD (biology) there? Is it "worth" to move to Perth? Is it have a good environment? Can you survive with a annual income of 29000 AUD? Sorry for all the questions, Goncalo
Scot01
I taught at UWA so firstly, if this is an example of your written English, I am afraid you won't last long unless it improves significantly. There are many overseas students but you will lose marks for anything you submit if your English is poor. You can get help - http://www.student.uwa.edu.au/learning/studysmarter/writesmart/english UWA is more traditional than some of the other Universities in Perth and more theoretical and research based, whereas a University like Curtin would be more practical and a Ph'd based on course work. UWA is in Nedlands, one of the most expensive suburbs in Perth and a room in a share house will be anything from $100 upwards per week - average more like $200. You can live away from the Uni and travel. I think international students can do 20 hours a week work maximum. Perth is a wonderful city with a good climate - is it worth coming to Perth depends on you and what you make of it.
JasminInYarpshire
I don't know abt biology specifically, but in general terms UWA is considered to be quite good
