Guest Guest6235
Well that's half hour of my life I won't get back after cleaning the house that was egged today. Having seen the carramar and Tapping FB forums in the past I know a lot of this thing happens round here. ...bloody frustrating, love to catch them. Guest Guest6235
We thought Tapping was when we moved in but since Christmas there has been lots of burglaries in Tapping & Carramar, one opposite us about a month ago, the people who's house it was came round the street warning us all. I saw somebody suspicious the other week and a week later in the free paper it gave the crime stats for week previous & where I saw the dodgy dude there was a break in. I called the police and they said the day I saw him there were 5 burglaries in Tapping. I was on phone with him a while & he said they're not even bothered if you're in, day or night. He also said groups just move from suburb to suburb, good or bad. When there was a lot in Carramar/Tapping/Ashby from Dec-March I went to a local resident meeting as the police were going & I wanted to ask them some questions. One of the ladies on the committee (can't remember where she lived) said she was getting ready one morning around 6 and some guy was walking down her hallway. Wanneroo police today have again warned people on twitter, this time about 4 blokes trying to get into a house down Clarkson Ave. There are 5 families now around us and we have each others numbers to warn each other or to help them in the night if required. You should check out 'carramar and tapping residents association' page, you'll be amazed. I'm guessing someone will mention one time in the UK but we're not on about that. flatpack
Be very careful what you put on the Carramar page, the admin on there are like the gestapo. If you put anything they don't like, they ban you! Pathetic really.
Guest Guest6235
What like ? Angela seems alright. I don't put really anything on it, I just read the posts. ....in amazement. Edited June 15, 2015 by Guest6235
flatpack
Maria Szep is the dragon who thinks she owns Carramar! Lol The rest of the admin just bow down to her They think censorship is a tool to be used against anyone that questions the running of the page of the residents association. Guest Guest6235
I wonder if she was the one that chaired the meeting I went to at carramar village community hall.
flatpack
That's her, I questioned her right to censor the site. It was getting beyond a joke, she wasn't only deleting subjects that she didn't want discussing, she was deleting comments which questions why! She challenged me to come to a residents meeting, which I said I would. She then banned me, and blocked me so I cannot even see the group lol. It appears this behaviour is widespread and there are countless people in the same position. If it matters, the original thread was about Police patrols after a spate of burgalries in Tapping. She announce that the group wasn't allowed to discuss it, she justified her stance by saying if the Police wanted people to know where they were, they would ring HER and aske HER to tell everyone. When I asked why they would ring her, she told it was because she controlled the residents association! Yes, she really did say controlled. Arwen
This is a useful resource. Sometimes social media can make things sound so much worse than they actually are. When you view the stats keep in mind that there are over 5000 dwellings in Carramar and Tapping according to the 2011 census, more will have been built since then more than likely. http://www.police.wa.gov.au/Aboutus/Statistics/Searchcrimestatistics/tabid/998/Default.aspx
flatpack
Only thing stopping me is I can't be bothered lol. There are others, quite a few (that's how come I know about other people) but that site has been going quite a while so it's very popular. What you were asking about with crime etc sounds constructive, she should ban half the people on there asking what time the shops open and if anyone has the menu to the local indian. It's not just social media causing crime.

It's not just social media causing crime. Of course social media doesn't cause crime but it perpetuates panic and hysteria. Yes crime has increased but if you actually take a step back and put it in perspective it isn't all as bad as the hysteria that is pedalled around on Facebook/Twitter. Certainly a freaky January in Tapping though !I have friends in Tapping and Carramar and they both love it and have never mentioned any concerns about burglaries. Some people don't know it goes on. When I saw the dodgy character hanging around Cataby place the other week I warned a woman on her drive about him, she had her garage wide open. She said thanks a lot & that she hadn't seen about the burglaries but had been told by several friends. The daycare centres have been hit several times also. The couple that got burgled opposite us had the ladies jewellery stolen and nothing else and others have had there total house ransacked. My wife teaches somebody who live in Iluka and are nearing completion of their new house. They've ordered a lot of specialised fittings etc from abroad plus your dishwashers etc and one night a couple months back it all got stolen, even ripped the hob out and took a sledgehammer to the walls!!. They ordered it all in again and then the same thing happened. It is at the point now where they are on about somebody camping out there until fully completed. Apparently quite a few around the development have had it done. I was speaking to my neighbour last night and he reckons that's common. lozzachino
I know what you mean about the residents page. She announced a few weeks back they were going to shut the group down and start a page. A few people said that was ridiculous and it doesnt seem to have happened although you know have to wait to get a post approved, and she didnt approve mine even though it was just asking about the school, had to submit again and then another admin approved it. That page has got so stupid now which is a shame as it used to be one of the better more useful ones, depsite all the drama.
Guest Guest6235
Yeah I saw that about a new page supposedly starting up......they were going to drop the word 'association'!!! The business page is similar, you can only post once a week or else you'll have them all deleted.
lozzachino
I think she is annoyed that the group has become all about community instead of her precious association and she doesnt want the association to be linked to it anymore, so she said it was going to be shut down. But it would take hours if not days as each member would need to be removed individually! Genius.

Sadly, it is not just these areas seeing spikes in crime at the moment. In Mandurah we are seeing similar things - had a huge amount of armed robberies recently, sometimes several a night. In Perth, the retailers are reporting huge increases in theft. It is not surprising. The drug problem has been growing and a lot of people have lost jobs. As a manager in the mining game, I can say that there has been a massive issue with employees taking ice in the last few years and now these guys have developed a habit but no longer the salary to pay for it. The writing was on the wall of what would occur

The writing was on the wall of what would occur I'm with you on this one @verystormy. It has worried us that no matter which suburb you live in here there seems to be a steady flow of it. I got told by a member on here back in January when I raised my concerns that we were being over the top by locking our living room sliding doors at the back of house when we went to the bedrooms at the front of the house. Upon speaking to officers at the residents meeting back in February and on the phone the other week they said we were doing the right thing. They said the scumbags will look over a back fence or whatever and look for a handbag etc on a kitchen worktop and quickly look for a smash n grab, hence we leave nothing on it, he even said if it was in sight they'd even smash the back window regardless of whether you're in or not. Also confirming what you say, our neighbours and a lady in Banksia last night I went to quote for has said in the last 8-12 months it has got a lot worse. I do find it very said as most weekends we have such a good time. Last weekend for instance we went to Hillarys and had a lovely few hours wandering and then a great lunch at 3 sheets, on Sunday we went to Scarborough beach and sat on there for a bit then went to the grassed area and had a bbq in the middle of winter.......we loved it. I can't wait to go back to John Forrest national pk with the bikes. 21/06/15 Just to add to this....another Servo got hit last night with the attendant suffering lacerations from the thieves, this must be about the 8th hold up at a servo in a month.
