Contributary Parent Visa ( 143 ) Any ideas on timespan ?

We have put our application in Dec 2014, to emigrate on a contributary parent visa. We have been told that we get a case officer appointed between 12 - 24 months, then we might get approved within 60 days and when approved we have only 28 days to come up with about $100.000 ( £50k) !.

Unfortunately we dont have that in our petty cash and it will come from the sale of our house, so the problem is when do we start selling our house? Too soon and we have turmoil of clearing our stuff and renting , too late and we may lose our application fees etc. Dilemma :/

Has anyone any inside information how long the wait is before we get a case officer?, or any advice where we can get information to give us a clue?.

Any info would be helpful, thanks

Hi, our parent visa granted last March and was 18 months when case officer assigned. Had done police/health checks already. We go in Oct but advice would be wait until approved before you put on market in case of any hiccups. We didnt have any and have sold up/retired. yep, a dilemma but option is sell and rent? Happy to chat cos we been thru the hoops but cirs a bit diff. Ray in Bradford.

We applied in July 2014, already completed police checks, but being told we cant get medicals done early by our migration agent, something other migration agents have said we can do early :-( Last update we had was we are looking at November/December for a case officer to be assigned. Dreaming of a January 2016 move.

The risk of doing your meds early is that they are only valid for 12 months. If your grant is not made in 12 months (there can be a million reasons why it wont) you will have to redo them. Doing them early will not likely speed up the process. I would wait until they are requested by the case officer

Yes, police checks and health tests only valid for 12 months so time these to meet expectations or wait until Case Officer appointed. Only trouble in waiting is your rushing to get these arranged, done and you have 28 days to sort out or request more time. We needed an additional x-ray and was up against it and also came across a couple at hospital where guy worked abroad and was chasing his tail to get done in time. Also what if your away on hols when notified. So you just need to decide whether to do a couple of months early or wait till its requested. List of hospitals on website who are authorised to carry out checks, if you live in North there are a couple in Manchester, we went to Spire, pretty thorough I thought. Good luck, Ray

Cheers Ray, we are expecting to be assigned a case officer in Nov/Dec, reckon after advice from our migration agent, we will wait till then.

Cheers Ray, our migration agent has said to wait for a case officer, and as frustrating as it is, waiting and waiting, that is what we have decided to do.

That is good advice Steely, even though the wait is so frustrating....hopefully you will be hearing soon. Just remember that everything in Australia seems to shut down over the Christmas/New Year break, and many people have part or the whole of January as holidays because it is the school holidays too. Please let us know how the process is going for you.....

Just had this reply to our 143 visa request. Frustrating as we were expecting 18 months, so looking like March/April now not January/February we had hoped for.

Latest update 11th Feb 2015 - OFFSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 143/173)

Once your application is allocated to a case officer you or your authorised contact will be contacted and asked to provide more documents including police certificates and health clearances to complete your application. Please do not send documents until you are requested to do so.

We are currently assessing for finalization applications lodged up to 20 March 2014.

Please note that in March 2014 we received 20% more applications than in any of the previous 9 months so the dates may be slower to change.

If your application was lodged after this date it is not yet being assessed.

The only ever wait I have this long, is to wait for Spurs to win the league title again!!

Oh dear! Sooner than the mighty Bantams (Brad City) will see Prem league again. Bring on the Chelsea, ha.

Shouldn't be too long now.

They are only up to 6th May, 2014 now. We are currently living in Australia on a tourist visa and this is so frustrating. looks like its gonna take 23-24 mths from lodgement date now guys

Hi,

Thanks for all information. My agent had notification from immigration to say there had been more than normal amount of applications in March 2014. If they are past that now maybe things will speed up !. So if we sell up now we can move over on a tourist visa. Can't get jobs on that visa though, can we ?.

Thanks again

Geoff

We have booked and paid for flights leaving on 1st June, hopefully 143 in our pockets, but we have the ETA website ready to get a visitors visa if needed. Fortunately for us, the removals company we are planning to use, has given us some free storage time, just in case things run over! Pretty certain you cant work on a visitors visa Geoff. If we go out on visitor visa, then hopefully it will only be a few weeks fter we arrive, for 143 to be granted, in which case, Bali here we come, to go offshore, and then return on 143!

Thats the plan and backup, fingers crossed now!

As I have seen on automatically reply, they said we will get a case officer up to the 23rd month, which means for our case in May 2016 as we lodged on June 2014. Have been tracking the past few weeks and i can see it jumps only once every week now. Way slower than before. Apparently, what i have heard is because they make priority for Syrian refugees. Partners visa is now 3 years even.
