Weedolly
I have never lived in the South, only the North so I like that, but only the older parts up to maybe Edgewater. Other people like the newer parts like Butler, tapping etc. Joondalup, Clarkson Jindalee is Pom Central. Anything above Butler is a building site. Best you come for a look yourself and then ask about specific suburbs.
ali
The are both equally as good
flatpack
The are both equally as good Pfft get off the fence. As far as I'm concerned, it's very similar to the UK, North is far superior to South!
Raychelsb
Pfft get off the fence. As far as I'm concerned, it's very similar to the UK, North is far superior to South! i agree with the UK, North being superior haha! Put totally disagree here. My personal opinion I don't like the north areas I have been to, just because for me they are too new, I prefer older established areas. There's no definitive answer to this post, it's all personal opinion and what is right for you.
ali
Pfft get off the fence. As far as I'm concerned, it's very similar to the UK, North is far superior to South! They both have good qualities - I have to say that my hubby who travels from Yanchep to Dunsborough quite regularly tells me he hasn't found anywhere in the North he would have liked to have lived - but that doesn't make the South better - just personal preference

verystormy
We looked north and South. We chose South - far south. Our reasons were that houses are better value, blocks are bigger and North felt a bit like little England. A lot of people wearing football shirts. But, we don't have children, so schools are not a factor for us. I normally fifo so work not as big an issue.

Most boring place I ever have lived in and next to boganville - Rockingham. I am kicking myself for letting my husband talk me into moving here. I try to spend as much time away from Baldivis as possible. Fortunately, I work in the city five days a week Monday to Friday, Mandurah is only 25 minutes up the road and we go to Fremantle - my favourite place - a lot at weekends. Been trying to persuade my husband we need to move to Perth or Fremantle. Apparently Baldivis is the fastest growing suburb in Australia. Don't we know it. Thousands of new houses have been built in the time we have been here. The greenery is disappearing fast which is depressing. But we do have a big shopping centre now and a library. That's an improvement. As for North of the River there are some suburbs worse than Baldivis - Butler, Clarkson, Merriwa, Ellenbrook, Tapping and Connolly spring to mind. odies
Been living here for 3 months, never seen a football shirt other than on kiddies on the footy pitch. Love living up north ,there are a few areas I would not want to live though, up north. And no I would not print where they are as other pp people like their area. Houses are different somehow, and ok the plots are getting smaller the higher you go but the price also reflects that. Been around places today by the city, you could not pay me to live there and they are supposed to be sought after, liked really down south but way to far out for me , more a holiday feel , plus would not like all those tourists every day and spoiling my weekend.I somehow have enjoyed travelling around these last few days to areas I have never seen before as it felt great to get back home ,up north. Why not look up in the hills there is east and west too. As said many times before , you cannot ask someone you have to feel it yourself.Personally I love the friendly feel to up north and there isn't just Brits up here as everyone has you to believe. Lou8670
A lot of us in the south get FOMO...fear of missing out LOL! We want to be nearer Perth, Freo or North but I had an interesting conversation yesterday with my pommie friends from the north. They love their areas but where they've settled they can't afford to get on the housing ladder or they've bought a much smaller house or a doer upper to get on the housing ladder in their chosen area. They wished they'd looked south as many of them didn't even entertain the idea and now thy feel stuck as kids are settled in school and they're locked into an annual lease. I love my suburb and I love the friends I've made in my suburb but I also get waves of FOMO! I also hate Boganville but then a friend said to me that many are lovely people, they just dress differently, drive bright green Holden utes (car not truck!), have rats tails in the back of the hair, wear socks with thongs (flip flops to us Brits) in winter and are tattooed to the hilt...not sure I'll ever get used to it though haha!! I do love the quietness of where I live though...you can't have it all! Edited July 17, 2015 by Lou8670

It's a lovely leafy established suburb. The others are newer suburbs which may appeal if people want a new build.
Guest Guest6235
These North or South threads never go well! They've been done to death in the past......just do search for suburbs on the forum. @odies ... I thought the same about people wearing football shirts (proper football) I've never seen any adults wearing them, only children, in fact the adults I've seen who wear sports shirts are for the 'grab a ball and run around aimlessly' sport AFL....reel em in.
