laurakeating23
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum...Bit confused at the moment on what I should do next. I have just completed my A levels here in the UK achieving A*A*A* and I am wondering do these convert to anything and count for anything in Perth Uni's. I am a PR visa holder and have lived in Australia in the Gold Coast in 2013 and loved it but unfortunately it didn't turn out well enough for us. However, my parents are wanting to move back early next year this time in Perth. However I am worried about it because I have already got a place in uni here and I don't like the thought of another year behind. I was wondering if i could apply for uni in Australia here and get started on it straight away as i don't want to hold back. I am looking into becoming a primary school teacher as it is something I am passionate about. Is there anyone that could help with what they think I should do next? ali
A friends daughter was able to get entry to University here with A levels so it is possible. You won't get a student loan here as a PR but will be eligible for domestic fees. I would start to sound out the Universities here and look at their courses. There's University of Western Australia (UWA), Curtin, Edith Cowen, Murdoch and Notre Dame (private) .. not sure if all of them do teaching. Depending on when you're coming out - it may be worth aiming for the start of the New Year (Feb) which is when the current year 12's will be commencing Uni. Good Luck
Monkey2645
UWA and Notre Dame def do teaching. I'm planning on commencing my post grad course feb next year with UND and I'm 99% sure they both had 4 year BEds as well. I'm certain a levels can be used to get into Aus uni but not sure if you might have to do some kind of official comparison document. Go on their websites and contact their admission teams - they've both been helpful to me - if you can, get the details of the people who run your selected course - they are the people I got the best info off. I studied computer science at Murdoch many years ago. It is a lovely little university. I know nothing about their teaching program. But here is a link. Murdoch also do an excellent external student program, so you may be able to start before you leave. http://handbook.murdoch.edu.au/courses/details?us=51109
