Going ahead before the Family

Hey guys

I hope you are all doing well.....

So it is getting closer to the big move now - hopefully out by the end of November, not ideal but can't wait and we should both have jobs to go to.....hopefully!

Anyway, I know this has been asked before but now more people have moved....

Who went ahead before their families? So did Hubby/Wife go and you went later with the children? Or were you the one that went ahead?

Your experiences please? Is it worth it?

TIA :wubclub:

My now ex husband (separation nothing to do with move btw) came before I did. In fact we have made 3 international moves and he always came ahead of me and the kids by a couple of months. He found rentals, sorted schools, bought a car etc while I packed up and sorted things at home. It worked well for us but not everyone can cope with the separation.

Thanks :) I don't think I would mind the separation too much.....it would be more exciting going to see him too!! I think it might be me though that will be going ahead to sort all that stuff as he has never had to think about it before.....but not sure, as I don't think I could be away from the children for a month! xx

I'm going with the kids at the beginning of November as we wait for hubby's spouse visa to come through. I'm really excited for it. We were separated for almost a year when he came to the UAE and I stayed in the uk cos I was pregnant and it was ok. He sorted housing car etc while I sorted selling up and giving birth. It'll be the other way round this time (except for the birth obvs)

hoping it it will be worth it - sorting son into school so he can start at the beginning of the year, and me into uni.

Hi Jenpen

My husband came out 7 months before me and the kids. It wasn't so bad! FaceTime and Skype kept us going and it enabled him to sort things out at this end while I wrapped things up in the UK. The only time it was tough was a few weeks before we moved out, he was just focussing on us coming out while I still had so much to do in the UK, we were on different wavelengths for a while and got a bit snappy with each other!

We arrived a week ago and it's like we were never apart.
