Tigerbalm
So my 2 kids started at their new school last week (settled in straight away and loving it, thanks to all those who asked) and there's a boy in my daughters class who is also from England- turns out he's from our home town and was in my daughters best friends class back there! And then we had a guy come and look at relining our pool the other day- it was a bloke my husband used to play football against when he was a teenager! Anyone else had any coincidences like this since moving over?
flatpack
I had a lad tap me on the shoulder on a construction site in Perth. I was on that site for 1 day only, I used to work with him in the UK 15 years ago. Before I moved her I'd tried and failed to get in touch with him. ali
Good to hear the kids enjoyed school - no coincidences that major for us - just people from the same town
JaseandAnne
weve not moved yet, but on our reccy in 2012 we spent 4 days in Singapore, only bumped into my cousin and her fella walking along Clarke Quay!!! We live south coast and she lives Buckinghamshire. We knew he had older children in Oz and visited regularly but we don't keep in touch so had no idea they were going at same time. Was really odd to have a chat and then carry on walking!!! They were rushing back to catch their flight, felt like we'd bumped into them in our local High Street. verystormy
Yes a few. One of the best was when I was out making geological maps in the Sahara. There probably were no people within a days drive. Or so I thought. One morning I could make out a vehicle coming towards me across the dunes. Turns out to be a very good friend of mine. When we arrived in Perth, the company I was coming to work for arranged a hotel for us for a couple of weeks. The first morning, I popped into the lobby to get a newspaper and there was a good friend who I went to uni with who had just arrived from England - also a geologist - whose new company had also put her up for a couple of weeks in the same hotel. Arwen
On holiday in Augusta about 4 years ago and got chatting to a woman with a dog outside the bakery. Turned out she was the same village as me in North Lancashire (I didn't know her) but she knew my grandparents really well.
FOL
back in the Netherlands My digital marketing agency was in the process of getting a new client. this client was unhappy with their current agency. Until 1.5 years ago they were happy, but that guy they were happy with moved to Australia. The process to get this client to sign with this client took so long that I was migrating to Australia myself and had to quite with the pitch as I would be doing the work and it couldn't be done overseas. That was a coincidence in itself I guess... Two months later though saw a request from someone on a Facebook group to which I replied and suddenly I realised it was the guy that left too Australia! He moved to Perth and now we are actually business partners Lol
SJT
I found out on Friday that a couple of friends who are Australian, had visited my parents pub which is in a small country village in Kent where there are only 10 houses, how random is that!!! Sideshowdeb
Last school holidays my daughter made friends with a little English girl at the holiday club. It turns out she was in the year above her at the same primary school in the UK. It was quite a small school by today's standards, only one class per year so they would have definitely crossed paths.
