Ernie10
Hi i have everything ready for sept eoi invitation. Do i have a good chance on getting a invite for eoi as a bricklayer on a 189. My whv is running out and worried on what to do next if i dont get picked. Any brickies on here applied for a 189?? Hi Chis I'm not sure about the application side of things but I can give you an update on what's goin on. I've been in Mandurah for 12 months on a 489 visa .All I can tell you is things have changed signicantly in the last twelve months I know the perth area prices are still strong but down here prices have dropped . I am working for a contractor and our rates have been lowered . There is plenty of work but in singleton prices have been halved .i have spoken to supervisors who say this is common when things slow a little they lower the prices so when the situation changes the prices return to the max price. You will be at an advantage being on a 189 because you can base yourself closer to perth where rates are still good. If you need any info regarding bricklaying feel free to ask
Takeme2Oz
Hi Chris, how many points do you have and when did you put in your EOI? It doesn't really matter what your occupation is as highest points get invited first then for 60 pointers it comes down to the date you applied (the exception to the rule is accountants and some IT occupations as these reach their occupation ceiling quite quickly) I'm an early years teacher with 60 points that applied on 6th July so I'm hoping for an invite this time round too. GOOD LUCK x
Chris Jones
Hi to the both of you, and thank u for the replies. Yeah i have only 60 points and will be my first invitation round. Hoping being a bricklayer may get me through because by the looks of it, not many bricklayers have applied for a 189 this year. Only 11 out of 1600 invitations. Fingers crossed it will be all ok...just dont know what im going to do as my working holiday visa runs out next month....eeek!! Hence wanting the invitation so badly to get a bridging visa whilst i wait for a grant. Also good luck to you.keep me posted on how u get on with the next round.
