Eoi and waiting and waiting

Hi folks,

Can anyone shed some light on my current situation, I'm currently waiting for the invite to apply, everything was submitted with our agent in June so I believe we have missed a couple of invites rounds already.....so still waiting, but my question is I have 60 points which includes 10 from a family member being a resident in rockingham, has anyone have any knowledge of this type of scenario were a family member can top your points up? We are on the phone most weeks asking for a update and we keep getting the same answer....waiting on the oz immigration to invite, I' m a little bit sceptical at the mo, but our agent says it's just a matter of time....

Can anyone add anything to this please......

thanks

phil

Spoke again today to my agent who has reiterated the process is all in order and discussed invitation rounds involving the points system ie the higher the points get first shout etc, so according to the immi website I think it's 2500+invites in total and about 1000 of these will be on 60 points for September rounds.....just so frustrating waiting around, we have been on the process now for just under a year in total...and we just want to move on with our lives..... I'm sure this is the norm, please hurry up aaarrrrghhh:wacko:

The EOI applications are new to me as I got my visa years ago, but I haven't heard before that people have claimed extra points due to a relative living here (not to say it doesn't get done - just not heard it), most people claim extra points via the English test.

Hi guy's

THanks for the feedback, I'm a chef by trade and have passed all my assessments etc, I needed 8's on my ielts for 20 points as I cracking on a bit- ha ha, but only got this overall so I was 10 points short for 60- 3 gattempts) I then informed my agent May,June regarding my brother in rockingham, she said I could get these extra points this way and that she would check and then proceed with the EOI. So that's the story so far..... Paperwork all submitted ie vetassess, first aid , ielts, wage slips references all certified the lot and everything else that was asked for.

thanks

Then it looks like your agent has actually applied for a 489 for you.

I would speak peak to your agent. (Though they do not sound very good!). The 489 is a provisional visa and not a permanent visa. You need to get your agent to go through this with you as it is very important.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

Hi verystormy,

I'm 44 and 45 next February 2016, I actually spoke to her yesterday and she put these concerns to bed I thought, she added that we are still applying for the 189 but options are open for the 190 or others, we are with Migrate Me based in London.

I'am a little concerned now after your comments but I'm glad if this is true that's it's reared it's head, I think another phone call to my agents manager might be in order and just go over her head, just not sure to do now?????

Many thanks

Phil

Migrate-me use a MARA registered agent and are basically contractors for him. This isn't particularly uncommon, hopefully your agent is in touch with the MARA agent on a regular basis! As VeryStormy has suggested you can't gain extra points because your brother lives in Rockingham on a 189. Here's the link:

http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189-

190 are state sponsored (Chef is schedule 2) and 489 are the only one in which a family member can sponsor in General Skilled Migration.

Thanks for the quick advice guys, I spoke to my agent today, who has confirmed what you have said, I told her basically you have set me back at least 3 months with this and you clearly didn't explain to me I would be put in the 489 cat, bloody fuming.... She apologised and said it was miscommunication, but anyway not all lost as I will be sitting the IELTS test again to get these extra 10 points I need.

A private tutor I think as I only scores 3x7's and a 9 last time round. (8 overall).... Feeling frustrated

thanks again for your help....very stormy,benj1980

Hello Ibbie,

Have you had a look at the PTE Academic Test; it's an alternative English test which I've read is more 'forgiving'. It costs the same as IELTS but you get the results much more quickly. My hubby missed Superior in IELTS by 1/2 a point so he's going to try PTE as you read about a lot of people who have attempted IELTS many times only to miss out by 1/2 a point in different areas - must be very frustrating!

Good luck.

PTE Academic Test completed yesterday, 7/9/15, results received at 6.30 this morning: L 90, R 90, W 86, S 90 (mark required for Superior:79). EoI updated; just waiting for invitation to apply now.

Hi Ibbie

The last 489 I applied for which was for an Accountant took 11 months for an invitation and we were sitting on 65 points. You will loose 15 points in February when you turn 45...........

I would suggest you sit all of the available English Language Tests URGENTLY in order to get IELTS of 8 which will give you 20 points which you will need as of Feb by the sounds of it.

As other people have said the 489 is a temporary visa, you can apply for permanency once you have met the working criteria. You would be much better to do all the options of tests and get 10 points (7's) which may give you 60 points for a 189 in which you are likely to get an invite within a couple of months max
