Scotty
Hi I was wondering if anyone could give some advise? I was wondering if arriving in December was a bad idea? any thoughts? The 2 issues I can see are companies winding down for Christmas and short term accommodation being more expensive? Maybe flight also? rpakey
We always holiday in Dec in Perth, only once (when we initially travelled) have we been there at other times of the year Things to consider: It can get VERY hot, I guess you may as well get used to it, but its one of the peak months for the heat Kids will be off school, so most beaches will be busy (go other times of the year and some can be surprisingly quiet!) Companies definitely wind down, I find it difficult to get quick, meaningful responses Flights get expensive after the 8th or 9th from memory, before that they are still reasonable Not sure of accommodation because I have been fortunate enough to not require it Hopefully you'll get other responses too, but I thought I would just start the thread from my own experiences... verystormy
Pretty much as above. Will add that there is effectively zero job recruitment December and January and even February is slow.
chatterbox
Scotty, we're hoping to come across at the end of Dec/start of Jan. This will only happen if I can secure a job in advance though. We've had to accept the fact that my husband will be out of work until at least February given what VS has said about recruitment. This will give him time to unpack etc so it's not the end of the world. I'm a wee bit concerned about having to humph boxes into our new place in 40 degree sunshine, I guess it'll be a baptism of fire! Yes, flights do seem more pricey which is why we're considering start of Jan...
Anne
January & February are usually the hottest months. December is not too bad.

Early Dec, late Nov will give you a chance to settle them into school. If no kids, I'd leave it till Feb.

newjez
No kids for us and not shipping anything. 2 suit cases each and off we go!! Late Feb too, unless you like really hot weather. Weather around the start of Feb can be record breaking.
