Any oldies and mouldies looking for friends?

Recommended Posts

I find myself in the position of being friendless here in Perth. I came over to live with my daughter and son-in-law a few months ago and for a while there was so much to do and see that I didn't particularly notice that I'd made no friends. Inevitably life has settled down and of course my daughter and son-in-law are off doing their own thing most of the time. But I really notice being on my own a lot at weekends when they are off cycling or weekends away or at the sailing club etc.

Are there any others out there in the same position who would like to meet up sometimes for coffee or lunch or to sightsee or even just shop?

Have you considered getting the Crown Casino coach to the casino? We have made quite a few friends on the coach. It costs $10 & you get a lovely meal included. You do not have to gamble. I walk along the river, relax in the Atrium or catch the train into the City. Quite a number of lonely single retired people get the coach & enjoy the company for the day. It goes twice a week from my area.

Google 'crown casino bus' & you will find lots of info including the bus timetables.

You could also get the train to Burswood, take out free membership & then purchase the $10 'fun pack'. It happens to be $5 until the end of January.

We have made friends coming up on the bus but I think the Roe St bus station, where your bus leaves from is closed at present.

Any clubs in your area you could go to - Volunteering at one of the charity shops or hospital?

Yes you are right. I hadn't meant to sound so down. I was just thinking that there might be someone else looking for someone to meet up with now and again to chat a bit. That's all. I do have things to do. But thanks for the suggestions:biggrin:

Hi there, it's Laura, we spoke on PomsinOz. We have our flights booked for May 26th and mum will hopefully coming on her first visit in October for a few months, she was asking today if we had heard how you were getting on. We are hoping to move to Woodvale so although it's a while off, she would love to meet you.

Speak to to you soon

Laura xx

That would be great. Glad you have your flights booked now. You must be getting quite excited. You will love Perth or at least I do anyway. And I'm looking forward to meeting your mum. I'm not sure where Woodvale is but I'll have a look. We are still near the centre beside Langley Park but we can easily meet in town.

Hello Weaver, I have lived in Perth for nearly 19years now, I am a bit of a workaholic so I haven't accumulated many friends along the way, (lots of work colleges though)

Hi. Are you going to the meet on Sunday? If so, we can meet up there and arrange to meet up for coffee or something. If not send me a pm and we can arrange something. Rona

@weaver were you there on Sunday????? So many people didn't put their online persona names on their labels and I found it hard to know who everyone was. I thought at one point I would get arrested as I was walking around looking at people's "chests" to read their labels trying to work out who was who! Would have liked to chat with you.

I was indeed there. I was the older of the fair headed mother and daughter ensemble sat with Deb and Lisa at the table behind the one with kate and John. I'm sorry i missed you but I did mean to circulate before we left at the end but it was so crowded and all the groups were talking ten to the dozen so it seemed rude to interrupt. Although in retrospect it was probably ruder not to have circulated earlier.

Give me a call next time you are in town and we could meet and chat then.

I think you did chat with my daughter but she's not sure.

Hi again. I live North of the city, near the CBD. Easy for me to get into town.

Yes I was chatting with Bottler and I think you also spoke to my daughter Julia.
