Learning to drive

Recommended Posts

Hi, we move in May and my son will be learning to drive when he turns 16 in October. He is super excited to be able to do this a year ahead of his friends!

What at I am wondering is if there are Apps etc that will go through their version of the Highway Code and the tests for the theory like there is in the UK? All I can find is a 133 page booked for WA road users!

Thanks

Laura

I replied to your thread on PIO - my son did his theory as part of a course at his school, he's 16 and now has his learners permit.

Thanks guys. Do you know, if we. If him a car to learn to drive aged 16 on a learners permit, can he have insurance in his name at that point? Or would it need to be in my name as his parent?

Thanks

As he is an unregistered driver, he can only be part of your insurance... and that will push the premiums up a fair bit.... be warned. He cannot legally own a vehicle until he has passed his driving test and has a licence, so any licence or vehicle registration will need to be in your name. As I am sure that is how it is in UK.

Hi Jem,

My insurance company hasn't charged me any extra while my son is learning, but once he gets his Ps and can drive without my supervison then my premium will go up. I know that there is an app that helps them study for the test but I don't know the name. I'm sure once you're here and looking in the Aussie apps store you will find them easily enough.
