Which shopping centre best?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! We're in Perth for a few weeks and already have our 190 visa ready to move in a year or so.

This is our second visit and this time we're trying to check our schools and try to cover and much of the areas as we can! We're spending a week in Scarborough before heading up to geraldton and kalbarri and I really want to see what the shopping is like in Perth centre so can anyone recommend a good place to start? I've seen that there are lots of out of town malls but wanted to go to where there are most shops just to see what's there! Any recommendations? Thanks ?

Lakeside Joondalup is the largest in WA. Also NOR are Karrinyup, Whitfords, Innaloo, Morley Galleria.

If you are in Scarbs, go to Karrinyup. It's close and a whole lot better than Innaloo.

Garden City is the best (in my opinion) ouside the CBD (which isn't a mall, but has the best shops).

I try and avoid Joondalup. Not specifically the shopping centre, just in general.

Totally agree...Garden City is the best, then Karrinyup.... Although, I had to go to the big shopping centre in Dianella recently (whatever it's called) and it was huge and looked quite good from my quick run through. Shopping in Perth is pretty rubbish/expensive though...unless you've got lots of cash to spend in some of the smaller boutiques.

Another rule of thumb, if it has a Myer, it'll usually be okay.

We're in scarborough and karrinyup is good and pretty close. went up to joondalup but was ridiculously big and busy and not particularly worth the visit. shopping back in the UK is better but that's because the weather is so crap most of the time and theres nothing else to do! ;)

I personally hate all the big Westfield type of shopping centres and prefer to shop local. But if you need to shop in the big centres, there are many around Perth that are as equal as each other because they all have exactly the same shops.. it is just the clientel that make it different.
