justphil 10 Report post Posted August 26, 2016 Good Day, I am currently on a Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190) visa. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to find a good job these days. I would like to move to another state and try to find work there. My visa requirements are that I have to work and live for two years in WA. I've done a bit of research and found out the you can seek permission from the government and they might let you move. Has anyone done this? I was trying to contact them but it's not that easy. First i went to the immigration office in Perth but they wouldn't help me. They just told me I have to contact "nsw.pse@border.gov.au". They couldn't help me either and I got told to call 131 881. This guy on the phone said I have to contact the Western Australian Government but he wouldn't give me a phone number or a address. Not sure what to do now, I hope someone here was in the same situation and can help me out. Cheers Phil
verystormy 85 Report post Posted August 26, 2016 Holders of 190 visas only have a moral obligation to stay in the sponsoring state. There is no legal obligation.

This guy today on the phone from the immigration said i have to ask the government for permission. People who work for immigration would do well to read this forum, they might learn a thing or two. He didn't give you the details of who to speak to because you don't need permission, it's a moral obligation. Ring them back and ask for it in writing what the rules are and what would happen if you went to a different state.

You will struggle to find that as it is not something that is stated, but there by not being stated as such. It isn't in your visa conditions. This is one of the big differences between a 190 and a 489. The 489 visa is issued with a visa condition. The 190, if you look at your grant, doesn't have a condition. The states dont like this and so will not want to help much. Hence why some states now often refuse 190 applicants and offer to sponsor 489 instead.
justphil 10 Report post Posted August 26, 2016 Right, thanks guys. I just had a look in my Grant Notification and they are always talking about a permanent resident visa from Australia. Nothing from WA or the two years. Cheers
