Christmas

Recommended Posts

It is creeping up fast! So, what are your plans?

We are going to have a quiet one with just the two of us (plus the fury member of family of course). Though still planning a big traditional Christmas lunch, which we will probably be eating for weeks afterwards.

I get two weeks off for it, so mainly looking forward to some down time and probably a couple of trips to see family and friends maybe starting on the 23rd with a quick flight to Leicester for a drunken afternoon with my best friend and fly home early Christmas eve.

Hoping some friends will be visiting as well at some point.

Thinking about a trip to Edinburgh for new years eve.

I am thinking of buying a real Christmas tree as we don't have any decorations now - well, a few very old ones of sentimental value that we shipped, but need to buy a tree and things.

Until last Sunday, my Christmas was going to be very quiet with just me and my daughter and SIL..... and then my son and his partner decided to fly over from Queensland for a couple of weeks over Christmas..... and then my very best of friends who live in Sussex, have decided to come to Australia to visit their daughter who lives in Sydney, and they are all coming over to Perth to join me as well! Getting a bit excited now!

Food wise I have no idea what will be on the menu.... we all love a traditional turkey roast, so guessing that will figure somewhere.... lots of seafood and Barbeques and time around the pool I am guessing too!

Well, last year we only arrived back from the US on December 22nd so we had a bit of an 'express' Christmas, only put one tree up, no lights outside and no ornaments ... This year i'm making up for it - bought another tree (so that will be 4), and some new ornaments.

Champagne breakfast on Xmas morning after pressie opening and Ham and Turkey Xmas day.

Four! My wife thinks I am extravagant with 1! Though I am thinking about a laser projector for outside as well.

Though have decided def going for a real one. The local Christmas tree farm sells them, then after Christmas comes and picks them up for free which is a bonus. Though will have to see how the little one gets on with it. He loves trees, but like most male dogs, not for reasons that are good for an indoor Christmas tree!! Though he was fine with the artificial one in Oz.

Yes .. although in fairness one doesn't need decorating as it's fibre optic. We have a large tree in our 'quiet' lounge - this is our main tree and the kids and I always decorate it ... as they've got older I don't have to follow them round moving the ornaments into better positions lol. The fibre optic tree will this year go near our front door, as I have bought a white tree for the main lounge, we also put a tree outside under one of our patio's.

I love Christmas

We were going to go for hogmany itself as well - the day after, but it either means trying to get home and public transport would make it very hard, or mean a dry 31st (not going to happen) or stay over, but that is VERY expensive. So, probably just the torchlight this year and try and book a hotel early for next year

We will be spending Christmas and New year in Scotland. Hope to get to London for a few days and up to Aviemore let Miss 7 have a play in some snow!

We're leaving our jobs on 23rd Dec and spending as much time with friends and family as possible, still waiting on a completion date for the house but hoping to move early Jan.

Planning Christmas already? There's plenty of beach time before that yet (and my birthday!) Bah humbug!!

In fairness our Christmas seems to be going to the boozy with friends route. No family flying out for it but we are ok with that!
