Renewing aphra registration

    Recommended Posts

To all nurses, a question having already being registered with aphra for 4 yrs, and returned to Ireland in May 2015 without renewing our registration now we wish to return how long to get renewal through . They have most of our information due to pervious registration. Any been through the same thing , what problems did you experience? I know if you are new applicate you have to have a degree , have tried emailing aphra and getting to reply. Any info greatly appreciated. Ta

Because you didn't re-new you will have been removed from the register. It may be that you may have to re-apply under the new conditions as technically you are no longer registered

Any idea of current processing times for new registrations @ali ??

No idea at the moment, however they have changed the process to finalise your registration (presenting in person) which will be 3 months instead of 12

Gosh that seems a bit tight reducing it to 3 months.... I would like to know the rationale of changing it to that timeframe.

One of the reasons i'm told is that it reduces the number of active files - can you imagine how many hundreds of applications they will have waiting? Remember, AHPRA isn't only for nursing registrations but other professional bodies also

Well I can understand that I suppose, but I still think it is a short time-frame.

@ali when you get your registration processed and you now have 3 months to finalise -what does that entail ? I know you present at the local office but what do you need is it proof of address in Aus or job offer etc??

Someone whose been through the process recently may have to tell you. My initial registration was with the Nurses board of WA which automatically got transferred. If you're staying in a hotel/rental accommodation then I guess an agreement or confirmation giving your name and address. I don't imagine you need proof of a job offer for registration. The 100 point checks are usually things like passport, (photo ID), drivers licence, bank card, and something with your address on - I would take a utility bill from the UK too (if you're just validating) so that the address on your application and your name are on it. -

I would imagine that when you get your letter saying that you can register in principle and to present - they will tell you what documents are required for ID purposes.

My understanding is, as rego has lapsed, you have to start application from scratch, and fulfil all the criteria.. including degree etc, I've seen a few posts on other forums stating just this, and now being unable to re-register due to revised criteria.
