Molliejoseph2004 10 Report post Posted April 1, 2017 Looking for information regarding the defence sector in Perth. My husband is a project manager and already has UK security clearance but I've read to work in defence in Australia you need to be a citizen and have Australian security clearance. Does anyone have any experience of getting a job in the defence sector in Perth? Thanks in advance.

verystormy 85 Report post Posted April 2, 2017 As you have read, normally defence jobs and any jobs working for the federal government - inc, using civil service - require citizenship.
Rossmoyne 98 Report post Posted April 2, 2017 As a retired public servant in WA I can confirm that a permanent residency visa is the absolute minimum that will be considered, and that is for a short term contract position. For a permanent position you have to be a Citizen of Australia. I understand also that for Federal government positions (which a job within the Defence Force would be) you need to be an Australian Citizen.
