gobbyjock
thanks mate.is there not many tilers around then? I`ve contacted a couple for quotes but one would only do tile on tile (I want all the old tiles ripped out) and both seemed a bit expensive. gobbyjock
I live in Port Kennedy, it`s pretty nice, though like everywhere there is the odd pocket to avoid. I was quoted $1000 for 10 sq m tile on tile . The plumber quoted me $2600 (including ripping out the tiles, Toilet, shower etc)and another tiler quoted me $1600 (including ripping out the tiles & fittings but said a plumber should only be about $500 to put in new toilet & vanity/ sink & shower head & taps) so Im still looking around and in no hurry - I think they hear the accent and think I was born yesterday. gobbyjock
Hi Jason! Hubby did have a job to come to but he also had an interview on arrival and started with the other company instead. We found that conatcting companies through SEEK job site once we had our visa`s worked and we had some positive feedback this way. I can`t remember how much it cost all in for the visa, we paid Go Matilda to help with the TRA side (which was worth every penny) and we did the visa application ourselves (pretty straight forward). Don`t forget to factor in the cost of medicals and xrays, as well as police checks, getting stuff certified can be costly too unless you know someone in a profession on the list (we did). I had never visited Australia before but my hubby had a few years previous with his then job, I think so far we made the right choice. One thing I would say is don`t think that the pressure stops once you have the visa, the emotional side of moving your life and giving up that familiarity can be very draining at times (even now 8 months later).
