Guest NicNic85
I need some advice regarding a criminal record. When I was 18 years old (8 years ago), I was arrested and convicted of Theft. I was Fined and the conviction is considered to be Spent in the UK. It is my one and only offense and I am now studying to become a Nurse with the hope of qualifying next September (2012) and moving to Perth in early 2013, to start a Graduate Nursing Program. Can anybody give me any advice abou applying for a Visa with a criminal record. Does it mean that it is a defnite refusal for a Visa? Any advice or information would be gratefully received. Kind Reagrds Nic
Give me a break!
Hi my understanding is that it has to be a prison sentance that causes the problems, but that you MUST be honest on the application because they do police checks and it will probably show up. I had an agent do mine so I cant tell you much about the form but I beleive you need to expain what the conviction was and how you were a silly boy at the time and how you regret it and that you have grown up blah blah blah I would have thought your chosed profession certainly would tell them that anyway. Good Luck:cool:
Guest NeilEB
Yup what snoopy said. It has to be a sentence of 12 months or more to cause an issue. But definitely highlight it on the application form as it'll show up on the police check, and then they'll wonder what you were trying to hide. TL;DR: Put it on the form, it wont be an issue. Guest NeilEB
Don;t even think you need to do that - if it's less then 12 months in prison.
Guest mandi1971
Ryan hadn't been in prison or anything but our agent advised us to explain the charges etc and how he had changed since then. They were probably just covering everything so there was no questions later on x
ali
I think the letter is a good idea as it prevents them asking for more information. Although 'spent' the conviction will come up as a no live trace (meaning there has been something).
