deanhewitt
Hi all, We have our leacing party on the 10th September and one of the hardest things about making the invites was what to write in it. Like many of you that have great friends and family who will want to buy you a leaving gift we decided that we did not want any gifts so I wrote this poem if anyone wants to use in their invites. Well now you know we’re off overseas, The sun, the sand, the warm cool breeze, Our furniture’s gone will we see it again, I sure hope we do or we’ll both go insane, Presents are nice and we would both be so grateful, But a new life ain’t cheap and cash would be helpful, Don’t feel obliged or feel you need bother, But just in case you do it’s Australian Dollar !!! Hope you enjoy.
phil
That made me smile. In our mad rush to leave we didn't do anything nearly so fancy - think it was just a quick email to friends. Hope the party goes well, I remember feeling very strange at ours, the realisation I might not see all those good friends for quite some time, the booze, and being exhausted from packing etc made me more than a little teary! Guest NeilEB
Not bad, although if I'm being picky 'warm cool breeze' doesn't make too much sense. I was always planning to go for the simple: "Leaving on a jetplane, don't know when I'll be back again"
Guest Lucy G
That is a great poem! I had been racking my brains how to sum it all up and that is absolutely perfect! So perfect I may have to borrow it (you haven't got copyrights on it have you??) lol Lucy
deanhewitt
Hi Lucy You use it as much as you like and have fun. Will be a little strange for us having the party in September and not moving until November but other family commitments have forced this so soon. djb007
Hi Dean We are in the same position with our party being this weekend, we actually arrive in Perth on the 22nd November. I myself fly to the Gold Coast at the beginning of October for 6 weeks before returning home to collect the family before prior to our arrival in Perth. Good luck everyone, we will all get there its just a matter of timing. Regards Darrell.

Guest scottishkiwi
A great poem, Dean! We didn't have a leaving party (I'm way too much of a cry baby for that!). Hope all the preps are going well for you both. Keep in touch
