Where to live in Perth?

Hi,

My other half and I are looking to relocate to the Perth area within the next 6-12 months. We want to live as close to the sea as possible and would ideally like a nice suburb about 20-30 mins travelling time to the city centre. Do places like this exist?! I imagine we would be looking to pay a premium for this but are happy to do so if the location is right.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

Hiya Holbys, I am a bit biased as I live in Mullaloo, but a lovely suburb with a fantastic beach and about 25min drive from Perth either car, bus/ train. It has a newly renovated pub , restaurant which overlooks the ocean. Price wise Mullaloo is still cheaper than , suburbs south like Sorrento, Hillarys , Trigg .If you want to go to the top price bracket look at Cottesloe and City Beach.

Hi Julian

I must admit the house does look nice what sort of weekly rent would you be wanting? i'm sure people would like to know.

How long have you lived in Mullaloo? What made you decide on that area? Whats the local Primary & secondary schools like?. Do they have any swimming clubs in your area?

Just a few questions to ponder over...

Hiya Jane, youve probably got the rates by now.We are putting a pool in either May or August depending on bookings,.We moved to Mullaloo basically because have always liked it,its an older suburb and used to be the holiday spot for people in Perth 35 years ago, we lived in Woodvale before which is 10kms east,.Mullaloo has a big surf lifesaving club which operates oct to april I think.Children and adults can join with every thing happening on Sunday mornings, training in the week. There is a big leisure centre in Joondalup swimming pools, gym, 5 a side etc etc etc about 10kms away also there is a swimming club near to there. There is a swimming pool at Craigie 5kms away with a large gym.School wise , there is an excellent primary school in Mullaloo but no high school , they have to go to Ocean Reef High School in the next suburb. Cya hope this helps

Prices are per unit , upstairs is cheaper than down stairs, as downstairs has an extra bathroom , bedroom and lounge. If you would like to make an enquiry PM thanks Julian. We were going to put a pool in May, but if you have it for two weeks we might hold off till August

We are coming over in may for a look around and then hope to move 8months after that. We want an area to live that is nice, near and cheap. We want a 4 bedded house from £200-250,000. Can you recommend any good/bad or ugly areas.

Thank you for your time & help

Hi Michelle

From what people are saying its a buyers market in Perth and there's not many houses selling.

Those that are selling their houses are telling me that they are having to reduce their price by thousands, bit like here really, and they are saying its set to continue.

Reccommendation from some Perth people is not to buy at all for the minute and just rent.

Good for us who are wanting to buy I suppose, but I feel their pain I am trying to sell here :(

Hiya Michelle, you will have quite a lot of choice with 200000 pounds, areas around here that are good value are Heathridge, craigie, Padbury, Carramah , Currambine, have a look on www.reiwa.com and yes the market is funny at the moment with the interest rate rises, in the next year there will be some bargains. Houses close to the sea are still going up, but in land not so good.

Hi Michelle, if you wanted to be close to the train and the ocean you could also look at Butler or Somerly. you will get a nice 4x2 for around the amount you want to spend. Its about 30 mins by train to the city. Check out the local real estate agents website http://www.realestate.com.au/realestate/agent/peard+cox+real+estate+mindarie/wfamin/homes+for+sale

If you need short term accommodation I have a new 4x2 which is 5 mins walk to the train and 5 mins drive to beach. If you PM me I will send you all the details including photos.
