A bad 2 weeks!! I think a few people are going to get a shock when they see what is available for rent here. Unless you are cashed up or want to live in the sticks there is not a lot of choice and some of the places we have looked at I wouldn't have the brass neck to put up for rent!

There are some bad rentals out there and some, as you say, i wouldnt have the cheek to advertise them as rentals! However, we rented for 2 years before building and we had 3 decent rentals at affordable prices. There are a lot of in-between properties that dont require you to be cashed up or live in the sticks! Our last rental at Mindarie a 3x1 was $320 per week which, for the area was a bargain! It all depends which area you want and proximity to beach, CBD or wherever is most convenient for you! Rentals are not cheap but i would hope most people do their research prior to coming here and are aware of the prices? Good luck!

I wouldnt call not accepting any old sh*thole as picky! One agent told me that there is a right shortage of decent rentals just now cos so many people are selling up and going into rentals cos its much cheaper. I know it was our choice to move from Melbourne but the difference in what you get is unreal - we had one brand new 4 x 2 with a huge garden for $300 and then a brand new 3 x 2 with an even bigger garden for $270. Mortgage rates are the same here as there so how can they justify charging so much! Its not even the cost so much its the condition that gets me- look nice in pictures and when you go to see them they are a disgrace - imagine trying to prove it wasnt you that left it like that when you are trying to get your bond back!

Dunno bout that? 18 months ago? Sometimes expectations in what you want play a big part? There are maybe fewer rentals on the market at the mo? Dunno not looked tbh! Different if you have kids cos you want to rent in the school areas! Some friends of ours who came back from the uk a couple of months ago picked up a nice rental at Hillarys in the school area, for their daughter. Small house but not overpriced? They tell me that there are reasonable ones out there its just a case of spending a lot of time viewing etc. Good Luck!

Perth is expensive, thats no secret! There is no justification for the high prices that they charge thats for sure! Try not to compare perth with melbourne and just accept it! Its just how it is!

Its a weird one, we had no trouble at all getting a lovely rental in fact we got the first one we applied for and only the second that we saw within ten days of arriving, but I have known many that do have problems. I think young children and dogs can make it harder to find somewhere. I have to be honest if my rental was immaculate then I wouldnt be renting it out to someone with little ones or a dog, it wouldnt make sense if there were others to choose from. Good luck with the search, inevitably though it could mean going out of area or changing your price bracket.
