Guest diamondfoxy
Hi Kirstie, I am a midwife in the uk and i have had 3 telephone interviews. They all have been absolutely fine and very informal and relaxed, dont be worried about it at all. The people who interviewed me from all the hospitals were very friendly and easy to chat to. Which hospital is the interview with? I have got a job at King Eddie's and just got my visa through last week, so we are hopefully going over in 7 weeks. If you need any help or advice please let me know, its nice to know people in the same situation. Clare
phil
I've done a few. My tips that may or may not work for you: - Make sure your phone works well and you can hold it comfortably. If it's a cordless or mobile, don't run out of battery! - Be in a quiet room where you won't be disturbed and in a comfortable place (be it standing or sitting) - Have a large glass of water handy, and visit the toilet before the interview - Dress as if attending an interview (I find it puts me in a certain frame of mind) - Don't be late, triple-check any number you have/have given them to call - Have a notepad and working pen handy (I find that in phone interviews, being able to make notes and go back to key points is useful) Other than that, all the usual interview stuff like having a copy of any cv/letter you've sent them handy, have questions to ask, remember the names of any person(s) interviewing etc.

tomabbie
Hi Clare, My interview is with Peel Health Campus (about an hour south of Perth), we are looking at the secret harbour/port kennedy area so would be ideal. Have also put quite a few applications in to quite a few of the hospitals in Perth as well, all have give me very positive feedback from initial email/CV but Peel is the first one to offer me an interview (only sent out prospective emails last Wednesday, so they have been incredibly quick). Are King Eddies sponsoring you and if so how long did the whole visa process take? Once again thanks for your help and support, would be great to keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on. Fingers crossed for tommorrow and lets hope my mouth doesn't run away me! Kirstie xx:smile:

Guest diamondfoxy
Hi Kirstie Good luck for tomorrow, hope it goes well, im sure it will be fine. Ive got some friends who work there and live in secret harbour, they love it!! Yes King Eddies have sponsored me on a 457 visa, I had my interview in may and got the visa last week, but that was due to some mis-communication and i didnt apply for the visa until 15th august, so it came through very quickly in the end. Let me know how you get on and it will be great to keep in touch. Clare x
Guest orlaandjoe
Hi kirstie Very best of luck tomorrow you will be fine!I had a phone interview with a hospital a few weeks ago,I was extremely nervous but they were so friendly and lovely and made me feel at ease. Have your notes all around you,a glass of water and your charger (I was so paranoid my battery would go dead even though it was fully charged lol). Sometimes there's a time delay on the line which can be a little off-putting at the beginning but you get used to it! Other than that it just went ahead like a normal interview. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Orla x

tomabbie
Just to let you all know have survived the telephone interview! It was no different fom any other interview but kinda weird not being able to see their faces to get visual/body language feedback. They were really nice and positive on the phone and very friendly and whilst I was a bit shaky at the start once I got talking I soon relaxed. Now the wait begins, they said it will be at least 2 weeks before I hear anything because they have others to interview also. Apparently they have a very low staff turnover and positions dont come up there that often (unlike other maternity hospitals in Perth). I think I did really well but am struggling to see how they would employ me over someone locally (who wont bring all the visa hassles with them). I am not too disheartened though I know have great experience and skills which should land me a midwifery job somewhere and next time wont be as nervous about the whole telephone interview thing. Thanks for all your great advice and support guys, will keep you updated! Good luck for the paramedic interview on Friday goose. If you prepare well, make sure you're in a quiet area, sat comfortably and have your CV and notes in front of you you will be fine. Let us know how you get on also.
