PerthPomToBe
Last night while myself, my partner and 2 year old son slept some sick individual creeped into our house and stole from us, they took all the money we had gathered from selling our things for our move to Oz, my purse, car keys and even my sons piggy bank! Any doubts I had about moving now are completely gone! I dont feel safe in my own home now and we will be sleeping elsewhere tonight. Just had to tell someone! Guest mamaswary
Oh Bev I'm so sorry to hear that, you just can't believe there are such scum out there that would do such a thing. My mind was made up when the riots were happening, we are moving out in Jan 2012 and can't wait. Hope you find somewhere to get a good nights sleep tonight, will be thinking of you. Jackie. Guest SueRich
Sorry to hear that Bev. There are some low lifes out there - Someone tried to rob my neighbour the other week (a 92 year old lady living by herself!) - I know crime happens all over the world but, like you, when it happens to you or on your doorstep then it just makes me more determined to move! Take Care, Sue x

PerthPomToBe
Thanks guys, I got out the house for a while today after the police etc had gone and now feel a lot better for it. My little boy is staying at his grannies tonight just in case but we are staying here just to keep an eye out for anything. 3 weeks today we will be flying out so tomorrow I am just going to try and forget the whole business and get stuck into everything needing done. At least I have got something to look forward to!

Weedolly
Sorry to hear that but it happens here as well. We moved into our second house in melbourne and were only in 2 weeks when we got broken into - computers, ipods, jewellery, credit cards, tools, just about everything that they could sell quickly. They must have been watching the house as one of the credit cards was used only 45 minutes after we left.
Caz Brady
That is so terrible! Scum of the earth! You'll have plenty to keep your mind occupied now for the next while and move on to pastures new. Carmel

Guest Bob Tonnor
Hi I hope it all works out for you, here,s a little story of my experiences that might cheer you up knowing that your coming to live in Oz. We have been living where we are for just over 2years having bought decided to buy again, before that we rented. In this house i am yet to lock any doors or windows, in our last house which was rented i dont think we had any keys, the one before that my partnered claimed to have once seen the keys! We have never had anything nicked or vandalised, i dont know everyone in our street, its a long street, but every single person who drives past waves to me on a morning and also on the way back from work. We are out in bush a little but i get that kind of nice feeling in most of the places i have lived in Australia. I reckon you may just like it here, i do Bob

Guest Cozzy
Goat, Let me explain my friend.... I havent got my rose tinted glasses on matey its just that i live in south london and the crime rate is among the highest in Europe and according to a report 2 days ago it is now more dangerous in london than New York. So when i say 'a better place' in comparison it is!!! Just in the last 2 weeks there have been 6 gang related murders, untold stabbings/shootings (I know people who have died) and thats just in my area alone! Break ins are so common they dont even get reported in the papers etc. And I wont even mention the Riots last month in which my Family couldnt even leave the house. The UK is dead on its feet. Dont worry mate i think i can say we are coming 'to a better place'.....even with the crime over there. (And there welcome to try and bite my arse mate ...all 18 stone of it!) PerthPomToBe
Well I thought I would let you all know that the person that robbed our house has been caught! The police came around today and asked us to identify the piggy bank that the person had stolen and sure enough it was our sons, broken and the money taken. We will never see any of the money back but at least the person will be punished now for what he has done. I just hope he gets more than just a slap on the wrist for what he has put us through! Guest Suziepops
It's the personal violation you feel after the break in, I had the same as yourselves some years ago as i slept & my daughter being only 2 at the time, I know you can apply for compensation, claim on your insurances but the feeling that a total stranger has crossed that fine line taken what you've worked damned hard for and leaving you feeling dirty some how, I could wring their scrawny necks! I believe crime is everywhere but the UK are too soft & just like magic they giggle at our justice system & repeat the act! So yes I agree Australia does have crime but nothing what we have to witness daily, I guess it has to be a personal choice with individual reasons why we decide to turn our backs on our home country and attempt to provide our families with a better standard of life, graft hard and reap the rewards! Love to Bev and her family X

Soon you will be away from the bad memories, a new start. Good luck
