Tuart College Perth - any reviews as a pathway to University

Hello all

we should be arriving at the start of next year with our 2 boys, our eldest Jake is quite a gifted student and has just gained all 11 GCSE's with 8 'A' or 'A*' passes. It is impractical for us to stay in the UK for him to complete his A levels and after a lot of digging around it seems there are a couple of colleges that offer pathway to University courses 'WACE program??'

We are looking to live near friends round about Carine and after emailing local high schools they recommend Tuart College as his best way of entering University.

Does anyone know of this college? What is its reputation like?

Thanks in advance

Glenn

Hi Glenn

Tuart Hill is for more " mature" students. There are a lot of overseas students at this college , as this is the only way to complete your WACE entrance to get into Uni if you are over the age of 17 in year 12 . The alternative is to perhaps try find a private of semi priavte high school that will take him , and allow him to do his WACE exams without having completed Year 11 in Australia. Private/Semi Private high schools in the Carine area ...well there are none . You can try Kingsway Christian College, St Stephens in Duncraig, St marks in Hillarys, or the Catholic High Schools like Prendiville College in Ocean Reef or Mater Dei in Joondalup. Joondalup Baptist College is also a good private school. Quinns Baptist College in Quinns Rocks ....that is quite a bit further north.

Please dont get me wrong about Tuart , its certainly service a purpose , and I have a few South African Friends whose kids are in Tuart. They are happy enough with the college.

Thanks for the heads up. It was actually the deputy principal at Carine High school who recommended this route, I will try and explore your suggestions further. If we did decide on a private school and they would take him wont he be at a disadvantage with his peers who will have done the foundation in year 11? Or will his A grade GCSE results hold him in good stead?
