Guest barryk76
Hi all, I am a 35 year old carpenter, married with 3 children under 7. We have been working with the help of a migration agency on aquiring visas to move to Perth. But because I have been out of work for 2 years and 12 months experience is required in the last 24 months,we have been told we need sponsership. This is not easy to get from here in Ireland. Can anybody offer any help/advice on this matter?

phil
If you've engaged an agent, they should be able to offer the best advice. I think at 35 that you'll not be able to get a working holiday visa (worth checking at the immi.gov.au website). You may be able to get an employer to sponsor you whilst overseas, I've no idea how the carpentry industry is so couldn't comment on how easy that may be. Or, it may be worth considering doing lots of research on possible employers and getting yourself to Perth and knocking on doors to try and find an employer that will sponsor you. It may also still be the case that state sponsorship helps with any visa application so maybe have a look at WA state sponsorship stuff too.
