just looking for info on ellenbrook ( good Or bad) moving out to perth in july this year with husband and 2 kid any info would be great thanks sue:)

Ellenbrook is a fantastic place; but it's not everyone's cup of tea? It's very handy for the Vines Golf Course................. can catch all the international stars there during tournament time, though having said that....... Melbourne nicked the Heinekin Classic from us a few years ago.

Ellenbrook is close to all those fantastic wine-tasting places along the Swan Valley.

I have sold several houses in Ellenbrook throughout the years............ the main complaint from people living out there is that it is maybe a little too far up the bush............ especially with the price of petrol being what it is these days? Ellenbrook is maybe a little off the beaten track and it would be quite costly making regular journeys back into civilisation for shopping, medical appointments, work etc.

Prior to choosing to live in Ellenbrook; I would suggest you sort out the work situation first because if you have to daily commute to and from work which isn't local based............ it could turn out very costly.

I have family that lives in the area (Ellenbrook and Jane Brook) and compared to out at Gingin where my sister lives it is very well located.

There are lots of semi rural properties as well as new and up and comming housing developments.

This is the area we will be looking for property once we arive there in August.

Taken from Google earth :

Ellenbrook is an isolated, albeit easily accessed suburb of Perth, Western Australia, about 21km from Perth's Central business district (CBD), located within the City of Swan. Its postcode is 6069. Ellenbrook has and is being built as a planned community, and currently has a population somewhere between 5,000 and 15,000 people. It is also envisioned that Ellenbrook will eventually become a satellite city, with a population of 50,000, however a more modest population prediction of 30,000 has been set for c. 2012.

OK lets sort this.

Ellenbrook is not isolated or rural for that matter, it takes us 1 min to get to the wineries and lovely countryside, it takes about 30 mins to get to Perth, and the same to the beach, beleive it or not we do have running water and shops. aveley is a massive development and is a great place to live, the future is definatly here, midland shopping centre which has almost every major store, is 15 mins away, we have workout equipment in our parks, and some lovely resturants, we feel like we are on holiday all the time, each to there own, we love it, the house prices are really good here at the moment and you can pick up a lovely 4x2 for less than $500.000, anyway thats my say, we live it and love it, see you soon

For some Mal - wouldn't have been worth it for me as my job in south east and initially involved working shifts - wouldn't have wanted the drive after finishing work at 11pm at night or 7 in the morning. I'm only 20 mins away where I am now .... but that's the great thing about Perth and WA there's something to suit everyone.
