portlaunay
The last time I went fishing was with my dad about 30 years ago and I don't remember enjoying it a great deal. I must be turning into him as I really have the urge now that I'm surrounded by rivers and ocean and the weather is (supposed to be), great. So, I have the crapiest little rod I bought a couple of weeks ago, a bag of bait and some hooks and I really want to land a Marlin. Actually just something for dinner would do. So can anyone volunteer to meet up and show me what's what or point me in the direction of some good advice or even a club. In my experience the tackle shops haven't been great, clearly they want to sell me a heap of stuff but there's no point in me buying, I wouldn't know what to do with it. I'm SOR and would be happy finding a pontoon or beach to fish from although I have a reasonable set of sea legs so happy to take a boat trip. Cheers in advance. Guest sunnywa
There are a few angeling clubs in and around Perth . In the south subuurbs you could try The Melville Amateur Angeling Club The west Coast Angeling Club in Spearwood You could also join one of the Sea Sports Clubs, they always have sections for fishing and boating etc etc before you go fishing please check out the Department of Fosheries website http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/sec/rec/index.php As you need to get a recreational fishing licence. Hope that helps Regards Sunny
Guest Stu
Hey, sounds like we had very similar experiences of fishing with our dads. It was 20years since I picked up a rod, I went out on one o fthe day fishing trips and really enjoyed it (even managed to fillet the fish I caught). Similar I have an urge to sit by a river, or the sea, rod in the water. I'm in South perth but if you fancy meeting up for a little bit of fishing I'd be up for it.
