Hi everyone,

I'm Ian married to lynne with 3 children Georgia 13, Joe 9 and Millie 4.

Just starting the long road to hopefully gaining a ss visa. Hit my first hurdle already. As I turn 40 in mid April 2012 if my application isn't lodged I have to get more points on my IELTS , I got R 8, S 9, W 7.5, L 7.5.

Fingers crossed that I can get my skills assessment done in time. Been a plumber for 23 Years and currently run my own plumbing business.

Just got fixed up with an agent do hopefully all will be ok( please)

Hi Ian

Good luck with your application.I am also a plumber heading to Perth with wife Kerry and two kids Hannah (6) and Toby(4).

I am slightly ahead with my application having done my IELTS test and now done my vetassess theory and practical assessments. I am just waiting on results and then the application can go in. We have been told by our agent that we should expect approx 6 months turn around time.

I'm going through I hope this is going to be worth it stage, having been running my own business here since 2002. Everytime you read something on the plumbing trade there seems to be red tape. What do you know about the working licence when you get there. I contacted a company in London called tradeies down under and they want £3k to do 4 x Friday, Saturday and a Sunday for 4 weeks and they say that you get all you need to work in oz. Seems alot of money though.

 

Any advice would be grateful
