I am Australian Permanent Residence visa holder and planning to land in Perth next year in April/May.I have a question as I am searching for our temporary residence in Perth.....I have seen many short term residence budget accomodation option on GUMTREE...but I can't get myself registered on,it requires local mobile number,which i do not have.......kindly suggest how to get registered on GUMTREE to post my advertisement for rental/shared accomodation required on short term basis..... Guest Villa Posted September 30, 2011 Report Share Posted September 30, 2011 Hi Hassan, I arrived in Perth nearly 3 weeks ago and found my accommodation on Gumtree. I also posted a wanted advert to say that I was looking but I must say you'll be far better off responding to adverts as opposed to waiting for people to respond to yours. The rental market is so strong in Perth that landlords and agents don't need to contact you. In terms of registering, you don't have to. Just make sure you're on Gumtree Perth and click on the Post Ad tab. The telephone number is optional so you don't need to put anything but there's nothing wrong with putting your UK number if you want. It doesn't ask for a full address either. You can simply put the suburb that you are looking for or if you're flexible, just put Perth 6000. Hope this makes sense mate. Let me know if you need anything clarifying. Where did you stay,before getting your accomodation?Are you with your family? I will come with my family(two adults and a toddler) in April/May 2012 and yet to figure out the suburb and short term accomodation advise whether Gumtree would be beneficial in finding short term budget accomodation,like shared one without compromosing privacy or any other option should be looked at? I have to search job,so please suggest any budget area to live near Perth or CBD...accessible by public transport,because in the beginning I might not be able to buy car. Some people are suggesting Scorborough/Joondalup,whereas some advise to go for North Perth,being accessible and rental are comparatively lower than other areas..... By your answer above regarding Gumtree,I feel that one can also post advertisement on Gumtree without getting registered,isn't it?I would check Gumtree from this perspective now. I'm only renting a room at the moment but I'm currently looking for a place of my own. My needs are probably very different to yours and my knowledge of Perth is still very limited so it's difficult for me to offer advice on the best places to live with a family. I can only suggest searching the forum as much as possible. There are always threads regarding where to live and often from couples with children so I'm sure you'll find your answers soon.
